I know we spoke about Sam Smith earlier in the week, but that's no way reason enough not to make another post -especially when he goes and covers the iconic Whitney Houston.

[Vocal Profile] Amerie
Vocal Type:Light Lyric Soprano
Vocal Range:3 octaves C#3-C#6
Vocal Pluses: Amerie possesses not only a highly emotive voice, but demonstrates a versatility in tone, timbre and colour not often displayed by the average RnB singer.
The lower range of the voice is where Amerie struggles, displaying a tone which can not only sound unhealthy, flat and unsupported, but can also sometimes be abrasive to the ear- depending on the context of the material she is singing. For example, All I Have's softer and generally more pleasing delivery contrasts greatly to Dangerous, where the more serrated edge to the voice can be less so.
Within the mid-range the tone lifts and the timbre intensifies into a far more pleasing sound. This area is generally well supported and the tone is exceptionally cleaner right up to a D5- evident in such songs as That’s What U R, where a sweeter, more sensual tone is displayed. The chest voice is incredibly versatile, and has evolved from her debut album- where it was significantly cleaner- to now, where it has a more prominent rasp, giving the voice a distinctive sound.

[Watch] Sam Smith Duets With Mary J.Blige @ The Apollo
Could Sam Smith be the next British export to reach Adele superstar status? Well, maybe not the "next" one because Adele is going to come back this year and slay everyone, but her male equivalent?
As far as the UK goes, I could totally see him enjoying the same success she has. If he's to replicate that globally, though, it's going to be a different story, and he's going to need a breakout song like Adele had with Rolling In the Deep. His team up with Naughty Boy (La La La) should have been that, but unfortunately he didn't feature in the video, so not many clocked him as the singer.

Cheryl Cole Hits Britain's Got Talent With "Crazy Stupid Love" Performance
We never did get a chance to talk about Cheryl Cole's Crazy Stupid Love, did we.
Having returned to the X-Factor (UK) this year, it's no shocker the Diva decided now was the right time to put out new music. Truthfully, she'd have been a total idiot to not capitalise on the opportunity- especially considering how her music career did post X-Factor.
[Music Video] Lana Del Rey - "Shades Of Cool"
Lana Del Rey looks like she's set, once again, to prove that she has the clout to move albums- with an estimated 200,000 copies of Ultraviolence being snatched up in the US alone this week.
To tie in with the release, the Diva has uploaded a second video from this third LP to the interweb. Say hello to the dreamy Shades Of Cool, which continues to tread the visual path of last video West Coast.
