[Video Spam] Alison Moyet, Dido, Fantasia and Nelly Furtado All Debut New Music Videos

Video spam time!! Here are four new videos from four Divas, all in one post!! Let's begin:

Alison Moyet has left me surprisingly intrigued with new song Changeling. Even though having been in the industry since the late 70's, time doesn't appear to have slowed down this contralto's desire to experiment, or take risks, with her creative output. But don't worry, this new sound isn't born from a desire for relevancy- so there's no danger of a Calvin Harris/ David Guetta style track blaring towards us on on the horizon (not that I'd be averse to that!). The change in sound has instead sprung from a different process being used while in the studio; something which Alison elaborated on further in a Facebook post;

[Watch]Veteran Divas Barbra Streisand And Shirley Bassey Shine Bright @2013 Oscars

What with the way that time has affected some of our most famous Diva's voices, you'd think a steep decline in vocal ability was as an inevitable as wrinkles and reading glasses as one ages. However, veteran Divas Barbra Streisand and Shirley Bassey showed us, at the 2013 Oscars, how this isn't necessarily the fate of all singers.

Check out both performances, as well as my two pennies, below:

[Watch] Adele Performs "Skyfall" (And Picks Up An Oscar, Too) @ The 2013 Ceremony

How in the hell is Adele going to top this era- I can't even fathom! Having just sailed past the 25 million mark with worldwide sales of album 21, yesterday saw the British Belle pick up an Academy Award for the theme song of the latest Bond film, Skyfall.

Winning the Best Original Song gong, Adele now adds the prestigious title of "Oscar winner" to the multitude of other accolades she has accrued in her short time in the industry. But Adele didn't just settle for picking up the award- Nope. This lady is generous, and as such, gave those who attended the show a live performance of the Oscar/Brit/Golden Globe winning Skyfal.

[Discussion] Billboard To Include YouTube Views When Calculating Chart Positions: Good Or Bad Move?

I like it when a company isn't afraid to move with the times, but American Chart compilers Billboard might be going too far to quickly with changes announced to the way they put together their weekly run down of top selling singles.

To reflect the importance of the internet, the company have now included YouTube video streams in their formula for calculating a song's chart position (in addition to its physical/digital sales, radio play and audio streams via certain sites). It's a change that goes somewhat to explaining why the video giant shaved millions of views off of videos last year, as it cleaned up its books in preparation for this new responsibility [read here].

[Street Fight] Kelly Clarkson Versus Clive Davis

Everyone loves a scrap between celebrities! There's nothing quite like these supposedly perfect individuals putting aside their "professionalism" and taking digs at each other in a public arena. This week's beef isn't really new, but more a reopening of old wounds inflicted years back.

Enter combatants: Clive Davis and Kelly Clarkson.

[New Music Video] Lana Del Rey Teams Up With Jaguar In "Burning Desire" Video

Burning Desire, Lana Del Rey's Jaguar tie-in, has debuted on YouTube, and frankly I'm not as pumped about it as I have been with her previous releases. I suppose this moment was bound to come at some point, but I just didn't think it would be so soon.

[Review] Mariah Carey "Almost Home"

NEW MARIAH CAREY!!! ARGGHH, ALMOST HOME IS HERE!! (That's an exclamation of excitement, not pain. Just saying!)

Taken from the soundtrack to the film Oz the Great and Powerful, the Stargate produced track maintains Disney's vanilla sound, but sorta contemporises it with the use of synths and urban drum patterns. The effect is that Almost Home sounds like Mariah vocally, but doesn't quite ring true, musically. Perhaps something not so surprising considering the different requirements and pressures recording for a motion picture must bring.
