[Q&A] Why ery'one be hating on JLO all the time?

Question:
I would like to know why people pick on Jlo so much? I mean she clearly is no Whitney, but i really think she is consistent with what she puts out there vocally and she really does well within her limits, specially in the later years so i don’t get it.

Jennifer Lopez takes "Love Makes The World Go Roud" to The Today Show

Jennifer Lopez recently released a tribute record to those murdered at the Orlando club, Pulse. With it being an attack targeting the LGBT community, the song, Love Make The World Go Round is an "Kumbaya" affair that has Ms.Lopez trying to unite us all under the banner of love.

And it was this message she was out promoting when she took the song (and Lin-Manuel Miranda) to the Today Show. The result was a colourful and vibrant showing, that was simple and unfussy -a change from her usual M.O. To make it even more poignant, the Diva was surrounded by survivors and family members of the slain.

Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, RuPaul and others Unite For Pulse Tribute, "Hands"

The tributes to those slain in the Pulse massacre continue to come forth from the entertainment industry. Released yesterday, Hands features a huge (and varied) group  of entertainers from both the mainstream and the LGBT community. Written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels and BloodPop, the song seeks to be both uplifting and inspirational, with the "Hands" of the title being a metaphor for people coming together and creating a change.

The full roll call of artists featured are as follows: Mary J. Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Halsey, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Ty Herndon, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Meghan Trainor, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Spears, Stefani, Lambert and Gomez.

Money raised from the song will go to the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida and GLAAD.

Jennifer Lopez Drops Visuals For Dr Luke-Produced Feminist Anthem Of the Epoch, "Ain't Your Mama"

The visuals for Jennifer Lopez's rousing ode to feminism, Ain't Your Mama, plopped onto the net today. Produced by noted feminist scholar, Dr Luke, it sees J.LO uplifting womankind to levels never attained before. And looking all kinds of sexy while doing it.

Get into it. Or don't. I ain't your mumma....do what you want

Jennifer Lopez Sings the awful "I Ain't Your Mama" and the sublime "Let's Get Loud" @ AMERICAN IDOL

A live showing of a song usually helps me make a better connection with it.

But this didn't happen with JLo's American Idol rendition of new single I Ain't Your Mama. Still sounding flat, dull and insipid- strangely even more so live- watching this actually shifted me from being unbothered by the song, to actively disliking it. The awful production was partially to blame, with the dancers waking me up to how awful the lyrics truly are with their Mr Mime choreography.

JLo Denies Insuring That Big, Big Booty On Late Show "Carpool Karaoke"

American idol judge Jennifer Lopez gets shaded an awful lot for her talents as a singer. From accusations of constant lip syncing, to snide remarks her vocals are consistently auto-tuned, the Diva can't catch a break when she performs. Well, The Late Show gave her the perfect opportunity to silence some of these haters with a stint on the Carpool Karaoke. Be prepared to be amazed with the resulting journey.

[Watch] JLo Tributes Selena With Medley @ Latin Billboards Awards

What's the consensus? I can't remember if we decided to let Jennifer Lopez into the "Divas that can sing well" camp. Remind me, will ya.

If you're still undecided on this extremely important issue- as I am- then maybe this video is for you. She already performed a straight out vocal piece on American Idol this year (and by that I mean there was no dancing to distract or excuse the singing). But here, at The Latin Billboard Awards, the Diva spiced it up by delivering both ballads and uptempo numbers in a medley of songs that paid tribute to murdered star, Selena Quintanilla. #versatile.

[Review] Jennifer Lopez tackles Ballad, "Feel the Light", on American Idol

We're more used to Jennifer Lopez giving us choreography, with the singing being a side dish. In doing so, we often don't expect much from the Diva, vocally. As long as the show put on is enjoyable we give her a pat on the back and send her on her way. After all, JLo is known more for being an entertainer than a vocalist.

However, in promoting the Home soundtrack on American Idol, the Diva chose to sing the ballad Feel The Light. Not only did she pick a challenging song to sing, but, since she was literally static for the duration of the whole thing, she had no excuses when it came to the vocals. So, how did she fair?

[Watch] Divas Rock the 2014 AMAs

The 2014 American Music Awards happened yesterday at the Nokia Theater in LA. Amidst the boring award giving, there was a peppering of Divas who took to the stage to entertain and amuse.

The standout of which had to be Jessie J, who absolutely smashed it with Bang Bang. Even though she was sharing a stage with two- arguably more famous- Divas, Jessie remained unbothered, out shining both with nothing but voice and charisma. This woman was born to be on stage.

(Also, Taylor Swift takes a little bit more of my heart every time I see her getting her life at an award show. I'm worried soon they'll be no more to take!)

[Forbes' Rich List 2014] Diva's Making Money!

This post is about something which is of no real concern to us plebs. Like really, what does it matter that these divas have gotten even more filthy rich over the period June 2013 to June 2014? Still, human nature is such that we are all as nosy as a Proboscis monkey/anteater cross, so let me just go right on ahead and post Forbes' tally of top earning female musicians.

For those wondering how they calculated the figures for said list, check out their site [here]. Even so, I'd take these figures with a pinch of these-don't-affect-my-life-in-any-way-so-who-really-cares. Though, if any of you lovely Divas are reading this, how bout buying me a diamond necklace. You clearly can afford it and I obviously deserve it....

Regarder la liste, peeps :

[Vocal Profile] Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez

Vocal Type: Lyric Soprano
Vocal Range: C3-Bb5 (2 Octaves 5 notes and a semi tone)*
Whistle Register: No
Vocal Pluses: On the whole, Jennifer Lopez possesses a light voice that is well connected throughout the registers. For the most part the Diva prefers to stick to her middle range when singing, as it's where she finds the best tone and stability- with a smooth, easy sound [Hear: On The Floor].

Her lower range is where she loses vocal confidence, though surprisingly she is able to sing down to a G3 with some ease. Even at the lower end of the third octave, the Diva manages to maintain the character and tone of the voice [Hear: Jenny from the Block ], but this suffers the lower she goes.

[Music Video] Jennifer Lopez Blurs Lines With "I Luh Ya PaPi" Video

I think the way I think about Jennifer Lopez is how others think about her nemesis Mariah Carey: Are there still people actually out there that care enough about her music to make it a viable revenue stream for the Diva?

Either there are fans buying her music, or this new assault on the airwaves has to be a music career in its death throes. Whatever the case, a new video has arrived for single, I Luh Ya PaPi- which comes from her TENTH album! TEN albums!??! Now that is a shocker.

The song is actually cute, I don't think I'll be bopping to it again, but I did enjoy the lightheartedness of it all during my first listen. I may even check out its housing album, depending on my feelings on single number two.

The video is also kinda hot neat, with JLo turning the objectification trope on its head- think lots of men in skimpy clothes. However, that does slightly fall apart when French Montana appears for his segment, so maybe this video an equal opportunity objectification session. Either way, there's something for all ya pervs.

[Watch] Divas Unite For "Chime For Change" Concert @ Twickenham Stadium

Saturday saw the Chime For Change concert take place at the home of Rugby Union, Twickenham stadium. There was something fittingly symbolic about a venue usually so crammed full of alpha males that just breathing the surrounding air on match day could make you sprout chest hairs, being used to highlight the plight of women everywhere.

Some of you may know that I was lucky enough to attend the concert- and had an amazing time, thanks for asking. But this post isn't really going to offer a play by play of the concert, instead I thought I'd post MY top three best and worst things about the night. Doing that should hopefully stop me from rambling and let you get to the performances quicker. (Or you could just ignore all of this and just scroll straight down, you scoundrels!)

Jennifer Lopez Performs "Live It Up" @ Idol- Mariah Remains (Unim)pressed...

JLo is one consistent performer. You know that whenever she hits the stage she's going to give it a 100% and do her darnedest to entertain the crowd. And, unsurprisingly, that's just what she did when she returned to American Idol to showcase new single Live It Up, with your best friend (and featured artist), Pitbull. Jenny from the Block gave us beauty, personality, choreography, lasers and LIVE vocals! It's just a shame the song was pants, because everything else was on point.

The shady queen that is Mimi clearly wasn't as impressed as her fellow judges (or me) with what she saw; choosing to remain seated while they took to their feet at the song's end. One obviously hasn't forgiven Ms.Lopez (and Sony) for supposedly tanking the Glitter soundtrack. Get over it girl, Loverboy is awesome with the Candy sample! In fact, I think I'll get on my bandanna top and give it a spin now!

[Review] Diva's Halloween Costume Extravaganza

Yesterday was that special time of year where one could go out dressed like whatever the F***k one wanted, and not get committed or sectioned for their efforts. Yes people, yesterday was Halloween! How spooky!

Now if you're a misery guts like me (see the gifs below to get  a sense of where I'm coming from) you would have done zilch to mark the occasion. Well that's not strictly true, I sat in watching Adams Family and Polyester (Don't ask). I was planning on changing the banner of the site to somehow mark the day, but even that proved too much for my lazy behind.

But our Divas are a more exuberant and festive bunch than yours truly, and they didn't let us down; getting into the unholy spirit in the way only rich people with too much free time on their hands can. So let's check out what our lovely ladies were serving up on the catwalk of Halloween 2012!

Lipped Or Not: Jennifer Lopez, "Dance Again" on American Idol

Jennifer Lopez doesn't look like she's slowing down any time soon and is still serving "fierce", over ten years in the game. Taking the cheese board that is new single Dance Again [ review] to the stage on American Idol, the New York native put her money where her mouth is and pulled out an energetic performance for the crowd and judging panel she usually sits with.

Video Review: Jennifer Lopez "Dance Again"

I feel bad to be mentioning such things on as religious a day as Good Friday- hopefully those who would potentially be offended will be in Church praying for my soul- but I have to ask this question: has Jennifer Lopez's booty shrunk? I remember it being huge back in the day, like disproportionally big for her body. Perhaps it hasn't changed at all and Nicki Minaj has warped by perception of what it is to have an ample derrière in the 21st century....
