[News Spam] Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Cher and Charlotte Church

Mariah Carey has released the title to the follow-up single to smash, #Beautiful. Are you ready for this? Well here it is, the name of her next single will be: The Art Of Letting Go...Yes, the same title as that of her new album. You know, the one she told us the name of back in August! Totally worth the wait...

Also, Mariah dropped a message to her lambs, via Facebook, telling them of the trials and tribulations that she has suffered of late. Her latest set will reflect these struggles, thus creating one of her most "important albums" to date . No shade, but Mariah, you say near enough the same thing everytime you release a new album. Still stoked for it though.

[Music Video] Cher Débuts "Woman's World" Video On Often Hateful and Misogynistic Daily Mail Website, Why?

Can someone explain to me why Queen of Camp Cher made the music video for Woman's World an exclusive on the often hateful to all minorities (and females), Daily Mail website? Could it be that the rag offered-up the raw material for the opening wig in return for the exclusive? Or even better, was Cher being knowingly ironic in choosing a site which often spreads negativity to début a song with a positive message? I have no idea, but I'd like to think it was a better reason than just exposure or cashola.

[Watch] Cher Battles Hair And Apparent Memory Loss During Macy's Fourth Of July Performance. Remains Flawless Nonetheless!

Cher Macy's music performance

Cher keeps up the promo for empowering new single, Woman's World. After her surprisingly strong showing of the song at the Voice (USA), the Diva's next stop on the promotional trail was the Macy's Fourth Of July celebrations. Unfortunately Cher didn't feel like singing live for that, instead doing a pretty poor job lipping to the song. Hey, at least she showed up!

But you know what? I ain't even bothered! I'm still riding the crest of the "Cher-can-still-sing-live" wave The Voice performance put me on! Besides, she had other, much more pressing concerns on the night- like remembering the words and keeping that darn hair out of her flawless face.

[Watch] Cher Wows With Live Rendition Of "Woman's World" @ Voice USA

The Legend (with a capital letter!) that is Cher took to the Voice USA to spread the camp Gospel to a new generation of listeners. Rejoice and receive it gratefully, young'uns! Rocking some kind of hybrid wig, and an outfit that you won't find knocking about your local high street, the Diva had the crowd suitably hyped with her new single, Woman's World. Sure, there was a backing track going on, but her live vocals were pretty strong over the top, so all was okay! If I'm honest, I thought Cher couldn't sing live anymore, but she sure shut me up with this performance. Shame on me for doubting her! I only wish her Burlesque co-star had been there to catch the performance!

I already covered my thoughts on the single, here: it's good but not great. Still, it's almost unbelievable that its release marks the entertainer's fifth decade in the industry! When will your fav be able to boast such a feat!? NEVER- that's when! And she's still going strong, even now! Whatever this member of the Diva aristocracy is taking, I want (desperately need?) some of it! I have my suspicions that she's made a deal with this lovely lady, but I'm yet to one hundred percent confirm it...

[Review] Cher Returns To Music With "Woman's World"

With the music scene being so focused on dance music at the moment, it was only a matter of time before we saw the re-emergence of the Grand Dame Of Divas herself, Cher!! Having reinvented herself as the Queen of the scene in the 90's with her massive hit Believe, Cher's decided now is the right time to reclaim the dance floor, unleashing her new single Woman's World.

Countdown: Top 5 Contemporary Contraltos

Note: "Alto" should read "Contralto"

The operatic contralto range usually spans from an F3 to a G5 but amazingly our lovely pop Divas can do better than that, with many of them demonstrating the ability to reach at least 4 notes below the lowest requirement.

Apart from the ability to reach an F3, contralto voices have other characteristics usually associated with them- though they are not always present- such as a smoky timbre, a lower access point to the chest register and a heavier weight to the voice. So celebrate this rare vocal type, below is a list of my 5 favourite contralto range capable Divas.

Note: Of course, in reality, comparing a pop singer to an opera singer is like comparing an apple to an orange so any opera aficionados don't bite my head off please...I need it for living.

Christina Aguilera and Cher: Burlesque soundtrack review

 burlesque christina Aguilera review
Christina Aguilera's CD art :Burlesque
I’m a little in love with Christina Aguilera at the moment. Not only has Bionic had resurgence in my affection, but Christina's- it’s actually a soundtrack which also features Cher- new release, Burlesque is pretty darn good. If you initially fell in love with Christina because of the Back to Basics album, you’ll fall in love with her all over again when you hear this.

Song run down

The Etta James song Something's Got a Hold On Mefits Christina voice perfectly as its a style of music that actually utilises and benefits from her grunts and growls, as well as its rough texture. Having all the tools already in her arsenal its not surprising she gives a convincing delivery that effortlessly channels Etta James' sass, passion and fire.

On the flip side the Mae West song Guy what takes his time, as well as But I Am a Good Girl, have Christina toning it all down. Instead, relying on her charm and a softer, sweeter voice to communicate the song. The result is two saucy and teasing tracks that scream Burlesque.

Cher- Vocal Profile/ Range [Contralto/ 3 Octaves]

Vocal Type: Contralto
Vocal Range: 3 octaves 2 notes and a semitone. C#3- F6
Vocal Pluses: Solid contralto voice, even in the higher octaves, with a dark, smoky tone,a soulful colouring and a range that is brilliantly connected.

Cher has the vocal stamina to hold notes for extended periods of time, with or without the use of her a natural and easy vibrato. A vibrato that is predominately quick, but capable of being modified to make wider if desired.

Cher's belting technique is great, being well supported and mixed effectively. This makes it not only easier for her to reach higher fifth octave notes but it helps retain the fullness that is present in her lower range.

For someone widely known for her low voice, Cher's head voice is surprisingly robust, being bright and clear, with a weight to it.

Vocal Negatives: The heaviness of the voice makes it difficult to be flexible in its ornamentation melodies.
