Ariana Grande Delivers a Tired Rendition Of "Side To Side" @ AMAs

The American Music Awards took place yesterday at the Microsoft Theater in LA and Ariana Grande was not only a performer, but the recipient of the Artist Of The Year award!!

With that to celebrate, you have to wonder why her performance ended up being so lethargic.

What Was Going on With Ariana Grande's Voice @ 2016 VMAs?

Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea for Ariana Grande to start a live performance taking part in a spin class?

[Watch] Ariana Grande Lazily Covers Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know" and "Queen Of The Night"

Ariana Grande has covered Whitney Houston A LOT.

With that being the case, not only is it natural for us to compare her to the source material; but we are also- probably more fairly- able to contrast it to the high standard she has previously attained covering The Voice. That in mind, I can say that this tribute wasn't one of her best for me.

Lazy and uninspired, were actually the two words left with me post viewing. I know that sounds harsh, but let me explain. Initially I was into it, but as the How Will I Know and Queen of the Night medley chugged along it became apparent that this was a performance by numbers. Instead of embodying or channelling either song, Ariana was breezing through the performances as if on autopilot. The head notes that punctuated the latter song were particularly telling, being repetitive and stale.

10 reasons why Ariana Grande's Singing Technique Sucks

Ariana Grande is a great singer, there's no doubta 'bout that. But YouTuber Legendary Vocalists has some issues (of which I share many) with the Diva's vocal technique. From foggy lower notes to poor intonation, the video lists the 10 biggest problems with the Diva's singing style.

Take a peep and see if  y'all agree!

Ariana Grande Throws Her Weight Behind #BlackLivesMatter With "Better Days"

Ariana Grande is a Diva who isn't afraid to make others uncomfortable by speaking her mind. So it's little wonder that she's speaking up on a touchy subject for many, addressing the ongoing treatment of African Americans in her home nation.

Teaming up with Victoria Monet, the pair have written and recorded a new song titled Better Days in support for the Black Lives Matter movement. But just in case there was any ambiguity about her feelings after this release, the Diva also posted the following statement to her Instagram account:

Christina Aguilera Duet Kills Ariana Grande's Set @ The Voice Finale !!! (In A Bad Way)

We can forgive Ariana Grande for being slightly lethargic during her showing of Into You and Dangerous Woman at The Voice. Coming off of the back of her brilliant set at the Billboard Music Awards, it wasn't entirely unexpected that she had a little less bounce in her step. Perhaps that's why Christina Aguilera was added to the musical soup - to spice it up.

Arianna Grande Gets Audience On Their Feet @ 2016 Billboard Awards

Ariana Grande may just have pipped all others to being my favourite performance of the night at the 2016 Billboard Awards.

Keen to show the breadth of her talents, the Diva gave us effortless vocals, choreography, instrument playing and a ton of stage presence! Belting out the electro-dance track Into You, Ariana was on fine form from start to finish. And the audience agreed, being on their feet, dancing like nobody was watching..but we were...and some of it was sort of tragic.

Still, check out the performance and see if you agree.

[GASP!] Ariana Grande Copies Mariah Carey AGAIN! Uses Line "Touch My Body" In New Song "Into You"!!!!

The visuals for Dangerous Woman haven't even dropped and here we have another single from Ariana Grande. These ladies need to start taking notes from Beyonce and structuring their campaigns right. #Mess!

Ariana Grande Takes "Dangerous Woman" To "Tonight Show"

Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman  left my mind almost as quickly as it came to it (i.e. instantaneously).

But good on the Diva, she's clearly feeling some kind of way about it and is still promoting. To those of you who aren't feeling it either, but still want to hear how the Diva's upper-belts are fairing, skip to 2.40. She sounds good, but there's a whiny quality to them that doesn't do the lyrical content any favours.

Ariana Grande Returns with Dark new Single, "Dangerous Woman"

Our little Diva in training is growing up *Sob*. Finally realising that rehashing old ideas for hits wasn't going to work, Ariana Grande returned to her drawing board to cook up something new for us. The result: the decidedly more mature Dangerous Woman.

Not being immediate in its appeal, it's a risky strategy for Ariana. Sure, it may earn her some kudos with the critics and cooler-than-you crowd. But since it's unlikely they'll be the ones buying the record, you have to wonder who her target audience is, here.

Still, it should make for an interesting era for Ms. Grande. I'll get the popcorn.

[Review] Ariana Grande Drops The Christmas EP I Never Knew I Wanted With "Christmas & Chill"

Ariana Grande clearly is a fan of the holiday season. She already gave us her obligatory, Diva festive release in 2013's Christmas Kisses. Yet, that didn't stop her dropping another Yuletide treat last year with single Santa Tell Me. Perhaps trying to cement an association with herself and the holidays in our feeble minds, 2015 sees the Diva persist with the tradition and unwrap her new EP, Christmas And Chill.

Since it's a mini album, I'll be giving it a mini review. Take a read of my thoughts on each track, below.

Ariana Grande Did NOT Slay with "Focus" Performance @ 2015 AMAs

Like everyone else in the world, I having been getting into Adele's 25 this weekend. Why am I mentioning that in an Ariana Grande post? Well, because I hadn't realised the unconscious effect that had had on me until I was subjected to this AMA performance of Focus.( And I should add, I'm enjoying 25, but not loving it like most, so this is not an Adele bandwagon type thing.)

[Review] Ariana Grande Delivers unto us "Problem" Pt. 2 with "Focus"!!!

Ariana Grande returns from the wilderness with the first taste from her third album, Moonlight. Brave lady. She obviously didn't get the memo of a certain someone else returning and reserving the throne until mid-quarter 2017.

[Watch] Ariana Grande Impersonates Christina Aguilera and Celine Dion On The Tonight Show

Ariana Grande rocked up to The Tonight Show where she gave an interview that I did not watch. What she also did was play the Wheel Of Musical Impressions with host Jimmy Fallon. Now that I did watch!

[Duelling Divas] "Lady Marmalade"

Lady Marmalade was a smash hit for LaBelle in 1975 and featured the scandalously suggestive chorus of "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir)?". At the time of release, Patti Labelle -who handled the lead- claimed she never really understood the français, saying: "I didn't know what it was about. Nobody, I swear this is God's truth, nobody told me what I'd just sung a song about."

Ariana Grande Rocks "I'm Every Woman" and "Vogue" Medley @ NYC Pride

You've been hired to perform at New York's Gay Pride this year, so what would be a sure-fire way to get everyone on your side from the get go? Do a Whitney Houston/ Madonna medley, of course!

[Say What?] Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande Duet On "Don't Dream It's Over" Cover

Wait, whaat?! When did this even happen?!

Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande appear to have teamed up to record a backyard session for something called The Hippie Foundation (!?). It wasn't even one of their own songs they covered, nor was it something scandalous, sexual or contemporary! It was Crowded House's Don't Dream It's Over that got a double Diva remix. An odd choice from such young whippersnappers.

[Watch] Ariana Grande Covers Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" (Again)

We've officially now seen latest vocalist on the block, Ms.Ariana Grande, successfully cover the Holy Trinity of Divas. ( She's actually done this previous to now, but since I've started the train on this track, I'm going to roll with the flawed narrative anyway.)

[Watch] Ariana Grande Imitates Celine Dion On The Tonight Show

The title says it all, really!

This little moment took place on the Tonight Show, and marked Ariana Grande's FIRST ever talk show interview. Isn't that crazy? Surely that can't be right, but I'm not going to argue with Ariana's recollection of events.
