[Discuss] Mariah Carey Returns To Sony, But How Can They Resuscitate her Stalled Career?

Mariah Carey has had a trying few years on the music front. Ever since the triumphant comeback of 2005's the The Emancipation Of Mimi, the Diva has suffered from dwindling sales and diminishing relevancy with the wider public.

However today's news that the multi-octave singer has returned to Sony, via Epic Records, may excite and reinvigorate fans. Why? Because it was under Sony's management that the Diva enjoyed her biggest and brightest reign over the charts. (Let's just ignore the fact that it was also the time she felt most creatively stifled!)

According to Billboard, we'll also be getting a new album (of number 1's) this year to celebrate Mariah's residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. An album which we can only hope will contain a new song or two.

So what do you all think Epic and Mariah can do to get her career back on top? I think cutting the Diva schtick would be a great start, as would live instrumentation (yes, I'm a broken record).

Thoughts?
