Some of you must be craving a bit of Christina Aguilera! Well, let me quench your parched plains with this live performance of Beautiful, recorded at The 2015 Breakthrough Prizes. What's that, you ask? Here's the gist, pinched from the BBC website:
The Breakthrough Prize is backed by leading technology entrepreneurs, such as Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Google co-founder Sergey Brin. The awards were presented in three categories, mathematics, life sciences and fundamental physics. It was set up to to celebrate scientists and generate excitement about their work.Source: BBC
A total of $36m (£23m) was awarded in the ceremony, with each winner (or group of winners) taking home $3m (£1.9m), more than any other award for scientific work, including the Nobel Prize.
Three cheers for science funding: "Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray"!
Now that that's out of the way, how was the Diva's first live performance post baby? 'Twas GOOD, mateys! Sure, Xtina's fondness for over embellishing was still there- I actually think it was even more present than usual- but the voice sounded cleaner and clearer than it has in a long while! The coarse texture was still to be found on the top chest notes, but she definitely sounded freer hitting the notes. Even the lows sounded improved, being supported and hit without collapsing into a sonic mist.
Take a listen below!
