Ariana Grande Embraces EDM With "Break Free"

Has Ariana Grande decided to move on from the Rnb stylings of her debut album Yours Truly? Break Free, the next single to be taken from her upcoming second album My Everything, would seem to suggest so.

But fret not, EDM haters! A cursory look at the track listing of My Everything indicates that this mess of a track is most likely a one off. With artists like Childish Gambino, The Weeknd and Big Sean making an appearance on the new LP, it looks like Ariana is instead taking inspiration from Hip Hop and alt Rnb for this August-due album. Phew!

Getting back to the single, I personally don't think the genre does her voice any favors, highlighting its weaknesses- particularly the lightness of tone- more than anything else. Maybe you'll disagree and enjoy the Diva's foray into dance music more than me. Let me know, either way.
