My favourite girl group of the naughties have reformed (disclaimer: "favourite" as far as can I recall right now). Danity Kane are back, dearies! Well, most of them. D.Woods still remains conspicuous by her absence- which apparently isn't anything to do with her. Shame, because it would have made this moment even more perfect for me.
The new song, Bye Baby, isn't the reformed group's actual first single (so I've heard). Instead it's more of a taster of what's to come from their third, as yet untitled album. Say goodbye to the heavy electronic influences of their first two albums (I do so begrudgingly), and hello to a retro, warming sound.
The track isn't quite up there with my favourite DK songs- Damaged, Striptease, Bad Girl and Ecstasy- and the harmonies are sorely lacking the extra voice, but I like it way more than other songs that have come with a similar sort of sound (Get Luck and Blurred Lines). I just wished they'd been more inventive with the vocals and harmonies. It would have lifted the track a little more, stopping it from becoming a tad stale by the midway point.
Still, I'm happy to see Danity Kane's revival.
