I thought Katy Perry's lyric video for Roar- you know, the one that featured the words as if being written on an instant messaging app- was clever enough to serve as a standalone promo for the single. It certainly didn't harm its sales, being number one, like, everywhere. However, Katy obviously isn't as lazy as me and has just released the REAL video for the song on YouTube.
Though still lukewarm on Roar as a single, I do like the new video- which sees the singer playing Queen of the jungle. Not only are the visuals bound to increase sales of the song, they should also nicely ramp up interest and anticipation for fourth album, Prism.
This looks like it's shaping up to be another big era for the singer-songwriter.
(Side note, does anyone else think Katy's been hitting the fake tan a little hard? She seems to be the wrong side of orange. Maybe it's just my monitor.)
Thoughts?
Yeah look, her face is caked hard with makeup and the poor girl looks like she's doing her best to have her skin emulate a certain citrus fruit BUTTTTT
ReplyDeleteBUT
the video is cute as heck and I enjoyed it. Which is rare for me and Katy. Now to see if she can pull out a record without it sounding like she has sang immediately after swallowing/inhaling broken glass.
Finally something creative from her team :)
ReplyDeletei am an orange. ur an apple.
ReplyDeleteI love the video it's so fun and cool. She's just doing her thing, no pretentious "I am a true artist" bullshit.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought actually was how she had way too much bronzer on. But I thought the visuals were very cool without looking too cheesy, I really loved the part where the fireflies made a tiger. It was creative and not too serious and I'm glad she didn't do the boxing ring direction she did at the VMAs.
ReplyDeleteWhore.
ReplyDeleteI totally thought it was going to end like it was all a dream but YES SHE SUBVERTED THAT.
ReplyDeleteWOOT. Good for you Katy!
You have high standards sir. Katy has some very nice studio vocals.
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteIs this song for a Disney soundtrack becuase its very inspirational for the little ones LOL
ReplyDelete...I'm not even gonna try anymore.. -_-
ReplyDeletei love sara bareilles
ReplyDeletei have to eat my words when i said previously that i hated it because roar is one of the songs that grew up on you and frankly im addictive to it and what's amazing about the song and the video that it is inspirational but it still katy because it's fun and colorful
ReplyDeleteBoring as the song (ie "Snore).
ReplyDeleteTotally generic - her voice is grating, and sounds like shouting most of the time (live its a hot mess). Face it - Katy barely is a vocalist INSIDE the magic studio thingie. Thank god she's pretty and has a nice rack. Otherwise you never would have heard of her...
