It's that time of the week again: Welcome to another Free For All Friday! I'm STARVING, so while you gossip about whatever, I'm going ta get to cooking some pasta. I'll check back in later!
As per usual, the rules:
- Try not to get too perverted-this site still needs to basically be "safe for work".
- If somebody starts a controversial subject, try keeping it civil when dealing with it. If things get out of hand please flag the conversation.
- It would be nice if it stuck to music, but it's not a requirement! So talk about news, current events, how you're getting your hair done next time you hit the hairdresser! Whateves, really!
- No nasty comments aimed at other users.
I AM going to go nuts and start this off with the beautiful voice of Maura O'Connell.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRzmmFLmBrU
And completely insane, considering this crowd LOL, with this show
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT549l9AHHc
This cat is so fluffy *-*
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3nMfS10_1Y
ReplyDeleteHello Kitty! Where are your ears?
ReplyDeleteYou know who I really like? America hasn't heard enough of her and I think she's fantastic: Luciana
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?
I stumbled upon "Betcha Gon' know" a song from Mariah Carey's album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and this song actually brought me back to Mariah. I stopped following her since 2005 but this song is just amazing
ReplyDeleteI think he heard Luciana. ;-)
ReplyDelete(thought I'd better throw that one out there before someone makes that joke about one of my links LOL)
I presume the link is pending?
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of amazing songs on Memoirs. I recommend 'Languishing', 'Angels Cry', 'More Than Just Friends', 'Standing O' and 'It's A Wrap'. I love all of those songs. The whole album is great though. Really toned down and different from any Mariah release.
ReplyDeleteLove that album!! Was really consistent which meant unfortunately if someone didn't like one song, they weren't going to like the whole album.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Dev!
ReplyDeleteawww, she's so cute... sorry. What an earthy voice she has.
ReplyDeleteLol, you think that's going to stop anyone?
ReplyDeleteDirect hit. Got me there!
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect Luciana would be your style.
The Cataracs feature singers so if I'm not mistaken, Dev wasn't part of that group. Different singer, different sound.
ReplyDeleteI like Dev too.
Depends on how creative they are. If Gaga was hanging on your blog, I am sure it would not. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm throwing shade anyway....
You are a wise man. But I was going to simply pass by without so much as a whimper, much as I WAS whimpering. Except then I realized the joke to be made and I just couldn't resist. ;-)
ReplyDeleteDon't apologise! I agree. She is cute....
ReplyDeleteShe is also quite awesome. This one is from her 2009 completely A Capella album "Naked With friends"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unJfG--HvyI&list=FLRKzx08-FwuStc8KR-pPfDg&index=2
It's actually my favorite album from Mariah. I love the consistency with the low-key R&B/Hip-Hop stuff, and how she showed her lower range, but still had good belting moments throughout. I thought it was beautiful overall.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was the first Mariah album I listened to that really flowed from start to finish with the same type of sound. I don't really know how to explain it, but all the songs had the same atmosphere. All of MC's albums are amazing, in my opinion, but Memoirs is unique in its atmosphere. By the way, I'm new to this site and I love it already! Just out of curiosity, who is your fave diva?
ReplyDeleteDev and The Cataracs were never a group themselves, but just really really frequent collaborators. And I assume Dev is on a music hiatus since she gave birth around maybe less than a year ago. The Cataracs have collabed with other people since, like Selena. Love all of them tho.
ReplyDeleteWaaaah I've become obsessed with Amy Lee lately, specially with this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUCe3j9d8Lc, she sounds like an angel! I've been replaying it the whole day...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, since you Diva gave us permission to do this, I wanted to ask: any suggestions for a male hairdo that can dissimulate a big forehead? ^^U I'm gonna move to another city in September and I want to make a whole change both in personality and physical appeareance.
Side bangs. Works wonders.
ReplyDeleteleague league league
ReplyDeleteRight! Personally, I felt the whole album was cheap and tacky.
ReplyDeleteLOVED It's A Wrap. Stayed with the song for a while.
ReplyDeleteWhat. I loved the album. I thought it was much better than E=MC2. (too lazy to find the square number)
ReplyDeleteBetcha Gon Know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55lRvbfZ4jk
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song off the album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRXnwyDUUeE (It's A Wrap)
I'm probably a bit weird, but I really didn't much care for Memoirs - it had its moments, and it was really fun and chilled out, but it lacked something as a whole for me. My favourite Mariah album will always be Charmbracelet, followed by Emotions. There's something about those two albums that her other material always seemed to lack - real rawness.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ricky. I also liked It's A Wrap. You guys were singing such high praises of that album, I decided to download it but haven't listened to anything other than the two above songs yet.
ReplyDeleteStill totally "Hot" song imo
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WZ33w3B8Hw
Don't get me wrong, the vocals and the material was stronger in Memoirs, but the production sounded cheap, tacky, and same-y.
ReplyDeleteMiddle aged and still sings better than 99% of singers today xD. I love this performance and medley!
ReplyDeleteGO MARIAH!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwoIvKWPV_o
Ok that is the cutest Scottish fold life has ever granted humanity...
ReplyDeleteThis performance has a whole review of it's own already. Where general consensus is...this was dubbed. making your claim a bit......dubious. ;-)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.divadevotee.com/2013/05/Mariah-Carey-Performs-Medley-At-American-Idol.html
Sounded dubbed lol.
ReplyDeleteXD wasn't expecting this, skip to 1:22 to skip the little intro part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhQK-6iI7cI
ReplyDeleteI know not too many people here are fans of utada, but did anyone hear that her mother committed suicide yesterday? This makes me sad because 1) I hate hearing about stuff like this, and 2) I don't think Utada's ever returning to music now.
ReplyDeleteAre you serious?
ReplyDeleteThat's so sad.
Come back to me Utada :(
I loved the album. But that album needs mood to listen to. Otherwise you'd think it's annoying.
ReplyDeleteAh ah. I got you wrong. But now I got you right. Yeah. But I liked the sound of the album.. so... no criticism for me, except Obsessed. Worse song in the album imo.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see. I definitely liked "It's a Wrap' better than Betcha.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKloc1lv8Go
ReplyDeleteMISIA delivers some great belting in her new song
A few of the great Ladies of Country....
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEbeblykyzw
what are side bangs? are they that facial hair Elvis had in here? http://tinypic.com/r/axl4wm/5 (Sorry I still miss some words in english ^^U)
ReplyDeleteI've been loving me some Demi Lovato as of lately. Her ability to emote has been impressing me lately. Also, this song of hers below, is song with warmth, eeriness, and depth that I didn't know she was quite capable of. I'm a bit impressed.... Though lyrically, its a bit rough around the edges...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIdN12HPR4o
I am addicted to the songs Bruises and Let Her Go.
ReplyDeleteMisia has belted an Eb6 before right?
ReplyDeleteWould be so much easier if you added a link. Or at least the name of the singer of those songs? :-)
ReplyDeleteI bought her latest album and I love it!
ReplyDeleteLatest episode from the Kety Perr: Pert of me the show :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EYgrdOSvE0 Basically it comes from a plot twist from the original Nekci Menij show and it's just as good. Those are satirical shows with all the "latest flop quens" and if you understand the references it's absolutely hilarious. Characters include Medoner (Madonna), Rhenna (rihanna), Adole (Adele), Brinty Spreas, Merier Care, Lona delery, Share, Nekci Menij of course, Bayonse, and many more.
ReplyDeleteGood tune imo
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9W511HVxuY
Yep, on her first album
ReplyDeleteThe more I hear this band, the more I like that lead singers voice.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-ouc5dDU3E
morron
ReplyDeleteHORRIBLE performance. Good body and figure though.
ReplyDeleteLanguishing makes me cry like a little girl.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'll be downloading the album soon but I will one day. I bought her third album and didn't like it much so I'm apprehensive about illegally downloading the fourth one.
ReplyDeleteLol, I love you too.

ReplyDeleteToday is the birthday of Marianne Steinbrecher. A very famous brazilian volleyball player. A sports Diva. She's an idol here, and an olympic champion. Brazil will ALWAYS be grateful to her. Lov u, M.

DD, shameful that you have yet to cover VV brown's new sound!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erw0XvaZ2zo
Hated the video but really liked the song. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am serious, unfortunately. She jumped from her 13th floor apt in Tokyo. I can't help but wonder why. It's also been reported that her and Utada haven't been close in recent years.
ReplyDeleteMan! I totally forgot about her ever since Degrassi xD
ReplyDeleteJust re-listened, her upper belts are really thin.. her E5 and F5 belts seem to be the best though. What do you think her vocal type is? It's hard to tell for me? She obviously has the range of a soprano, but I'm not sure what she is.
ReplyDeleteDestiny's Child 'Emotions" has been on repeat lately xD the live version especially. That soprano C6 is pretty stellar. (I prefer Beyonce's, even though Kelly's was more natural and not pushed.)
ReplyDeleteSuggestion... Listen to WRECKING BALL - MILEY CYRUS. With all this nonsense going around with Katy Perry's "Roar" and Lady Gaga's "Applause", this song is better than both in my own humble opinion. It was just released on itunes. Good day!
ReplyDeleteFound it on youtube xD
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4hve_cyKqw
I'm not suprised at all, actually. WCS was definitely a buzz single with a great video. It was a smart move on her part. The bridge really got to me too.
ReplyDeleteWhat I really like about Miley is that I also hear stuff like this about her
ReplyDeleteThere's more to this girl as a musician than the gossipy stories.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjHRZffJZHg
No, those are called sideburns.
ReplyDeletehere's a video on sidebangs LOL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czqhF4nwylE
I like the live performance when beyonce smashed Celine's dion ugly face. Shame!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRZFgfZukRM
That's actually the one I'm talking about xD, but Beyonce usually gets the lead roles in group songs. I think Celine was being nice and just letting it be.
ReplyDeleteCeline "being nice"? The same woman who tried to steal Aretha's thunder on Divas live? Are we talking about the same person? Guess not.
ReplyDeleteAretha actually had sang over both Carol and Celine's parts of Natural Woman, Celine simply sang her part. I didn't like Celine's vocals there, they were nonsensical,, but I will give her a small clap for reclaiming her part, Aretha's ego can be too big at times :)
ReplyDeleteBruises is by Train featuring some other singer, and Let Her Go is by Matchbox Twenty, I personally wouldn't recommend either song or artist :)
ReplyDeleteFor using a gif of Jensen Ackles, I'll give you a thumbs up :)
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked, her voice went from mezzo to borderline contralto,
ReplyDeleteI'd say she is a contralto, but I'd need to hear more material of the state her current voice is. A lot of change from "Shark in the water"
ok, but she was disrespectful. It was Divas live ARETHA's tribute. Celine didn't understand that.
ReplyDeleteso wrong but so funny...lol
ReplyDeleteNo, Celine just sang her part, as was rehearsed.
ReplyDeleteJust because it was Aretha's tribute doesn't mean she can be an ass and step over everyone's lines that were assigned ahead of time. I respect Aretha's impeccable musical ability, but she is a rude woman, and stealing lines at a show falls under rude. Celine wasn't disrespectful, she just sang her parts (as assigned to her), and then answered Aretha's call-and-response towards the end.
Cheers Serendipity. Knowing your taste and you knowing mine I guess I won't bother hunting those two down. :-)
ReplyDeleteLady gaga made the picture lol
ReplyDeleteLOL Can't take much credit for that though. I had and have (even now that I know his name) no idea who the dude is. Simply searched for a *rolls eyes* gif and liked this one for the situation.
ReplyDeleteGuess I will have to Wiki the dude now.
I'm not crazy about him as a person, but his face is nice to look at :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Turns out it is no surprise I didn't know him. Only show I watched that he was in was Dark Angel. And you seriously cannot expect any lesbian to remember any dude from a show which stars Jessica Alba.
ReplyDeleteHowever nice his face looks. That's just no competition....at all!
LOLLL love this!
ReplyDeleteAretha wans't calling anything. Celine was showing off and trying too hard.
ReplyDeleteNeither is Aretha.
ReplyDeleteDon't you then also have to get married at least 7 times? That father in that case doesn't sound too right in the head either? ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, if they hadn't been close for years..why would this lead to a singer never returning to music again?
The Great Streisand (pre autotune and I'd be guessing 90% of all other electronic crap used standard these days).
ReplyDeleteAt 20..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TA6LQmP0ec&list=PLDB1AF552F38BAFA2
And at 23
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y12S8JByzhg&list=PLDB1AF552F38BAFA2
I don't think that I've ever heard Beyonce push a note in my life - the difference between the two was that Beyonce was using full head voice while Kelly used a lighter, less connected falsetto.
ReplyDeleteJust because a night is in tribute to you doesn't make it 'Aretha and the Arethettes'. Every singer on that stage had an exceptional amount of talent and ability, and stealing lines under ANY circumstance besides if someone forgets theirs is just plainly rude as Hell. Aretha should have been the one to show some respect both for herself and for the other women on stage, and learn how to step down.
ReplyDeleteOk. It's your opinion. I respect that, but Celine was very rude.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she is an exceptional vocalist but people praise her to the point of it being ridiculous. Also calling Celine Dion rude just because she sang the part she was supposed to.. I mean, Aretha seems to have issues on stage when the spotlight isn't on just her and this was just another occasion where that showed. One of them was wrong, and for me, it's not Celine.
ReplyDeleteTbh it always annoyed me a bit and even more so today because the other great singer of the same generation( albeit a different genre) was Streisand and I feel especially now, Aretha get's a respect Streisand does not get from the general public.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that's what you get for being an outspoken liberal who puts her money where her mouth is. ;-)
No, Beyonce definitely pushed. She opened her jaw to force the note out instead of naturally allowing to to come out on its own. I think that's why her note was brighter and much louder -- she needed to project out as much as she could to stop the C6 from dropping or cracking. Keep in mind that this was 10+ years ago, so she has increased technically since then.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, this is my favorite show ever LOL it is amazing, can't stop watching..
ReplyDeleteActually, when it comes to classical technique; you do open your jaw a little more fully to access higher notes if you're using full connected head voice. Beyonce's note was a little pushed but that technically was correct. Your rear jaw muscles are meant to be as loose as possible while singing which, naturally, leans you to open your jaw a little more as your go higher. If you want a quieter sound, you just don't open the entire jaw - drop the rear, leave the front a little more closed.
ReplyDeleteAhaha I've been OBSESSED with this show!
ReplyDeleteHer fourth album is defnitely more pop than the R&B/Soul influence she had on Unbroken. But I think the ballads on it are definitely worth a listen: Nightingale, Warrior, In Case.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Opie basically said it all for me haha.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's as much "old" Miley as it is "serious musician" Miley taking a step forward with her sound. But all in all I think it's a fantastic song with great lyrics. I'm hoping to see a lot of writing credits on her new album, since she co-wrote all the songs on Can't Be Tamed except for the cover.
ReplyDeleteIf you like that song you might like "Two Pieces". They're both rock-pop ballads, although her voice in Two Pieces isn't nearly as emotive. It kind of reminds me of Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years".
ReplyDeleteYou're right, and he could very well be the one that drove her to commit suicide. Although, her mother had been behaving strangely in recent years. Back in 2006 she was arrested or carrying 400,000 dollars with her on a fligt in currencies from several differnt countries. also, it was believed to be drug related. Now of course I'm only speculating, but before Utada went on hiatus she cited not spending enough time with her famiy as one of the reasons for wanting to take a break from music. I would imagine she might feel guilt for not spending time with her mother, or not seeing the signs. Also, before taking her hiatus she released a song to commemorate her mother, who was also a singer. Which, in my opinion, means that even if they weren't close, Utada still very much respected and honored her mother.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sounds like some mental issues going on there. That in contrast to Lee Thompson Young's suicide. Did you hear about that one?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/lee-thompson-young-leave-suicide-note-source-article-1.1431739
Found that very sad because by all accounts no history of drugs or alcohol or any "issues" of any kind, a likeable and liked guy, career going well, only 29.
That makes you think he was one of those people who just live in mental anguish. very sad
That is sad. Judging by the article, you would think he had no reason to commit suicide: Handsome, talented, successful career, well liked. At the same time, I'm not all that surprised either. Someone in the comments brought up a good point that anyone can have a moment of weakness. Ah, I have a soft spot for stories like this.
ReplyDeleteI saw that comment but I think that is not a moment of weakness but a long time of mental anguish.
ReplyDeleteMay not seem like there's a reason for that anguish to most but it's there for the sufferer.
If he's talking about the Let Her Go that sounds on the radio these days, he's talking about The Passenger. I like that song but can't stand the guy's voice...
ReplyDeleteAaaaaah OK, when I read "side" I thought it refered to the side of the face, so I pictured he was referring to sideburns.
ReplyDeleteI thought about side bangs, by I didn't want to let my hair grow so much because I already had Harry Styles-like hair and it's annoying as hell, but I like this guy's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWqIzPtA7TE side bang, I think I'll copy him ^^
When she sang more than her lines? Yes, I will agree to that. Thankfully, she didn't up and walk off the stage.
ReplyDeleteIt was dubbed in a different way, though...she actually sang it live three times, and then just used the best vocals for each song. I'd say it's at least a step up from resinging the whole thing in a studio and then perfectly matching the mouth movements for T.V. (which she never does, let's be honest).
ReplyDeleteI think Mperry93 summed up what I was going to say pretty nicely. I think that I just mixed up the meaning of 'pushed' in my head - pushing for a note when you have great breath support and technique is sound and won't hurt the voice. It's how operatic singers achieve their highest notes, and Beyonce is a mezzo, so high C is getting a bit up there without whistle notes. Honestly, I always prefer Beyonce's voice, but that's not to discredit Kelly - she knows how to use her voice, and her high falsetto is, as you said, very natural and unforced, and for that reason I can't really say that what she was doing was bad - just unconnected.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter how it was dubbed. (and I agree that it is different than lipping to a studio recording)
ReplyDeletePoint was, it is not exactly a shining demonstration of how Mariah "sings better than 99% of singers today"
99% of today's singers that I listen to don't lipsync at all and don't need three live takes to make one good one.
Now, don't get me wrong, Mariah at her prime was supreme but to claim she's still at that level or even close today is fooling oneself imo.
It's not like she lost it completely by any means but too many performances of the last few years that show, she is not the singer anymore she used to be. And there just are many singers out there who's voice is in better shape.
Btw you do know high forehead used to be thought of as looking intelligent? Not sure why you'd want to change it anyway. But then again, it's hard to tell if you never seen a person . ;-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with that.. and I would argue Streisand is better than Aretha. I find it kind of sad that Streisand seems to be more remembered for the "streisand effect" rather than the fact that she is one of the best vocalists we have ever had
ReplyDeleteTotally!!!! Agree with your every word there.
ReplyDeletehttp://i352.photobucket.com/albums/r349/reddragon2_photos/thatssotrue_1950_1330178325.gif
Well, I guess it gives that impression, because many people say that I look like an intelligent dude (Although, unfortunately many people prefer using the word "nerd"...) I don't know, some days I love my big forehead and some days I hate it, I gues I'll have to ask someone I know personally. I also thought of letting my beard grow so it attracts more the attention.
ReplyDeleteDidn't I block you?!! For Shame! If you're gonna come back at least try to modify the behaviour!
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear that. That's awful news.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that she's a soprano.
ReplyDeleteas in of the Justice kind?
ReplyDeletehttp://media.tumblr.com/8f9235b2ee119e3692d108d49ab25d38/tumblr_inline_ms540mlrTz1qz4rgp.jpg
Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteThat's entirely fair. On occasion, to also be fair, she shows us that she can still really knock it out of the park, but yeah, she's nothing like she used to be (Christmas 2010 being the exception to that - something disturbingly perfect happened that December).
ReplyDeleteHowever, you must be really selective with your singers if they don't lipsync 99% of the time. Or just listen to a lot of non-pop. Personally, unless someone has a literally damaged voice (Mariah being a prime example), I hate even the idea of lipsyncing, but to each their own.
I just sometimes wish that Mariah would either force herself on vocal rest without alcohol and sleeping right, or would stop trying so hard to sound like she did in the 90s with the whole '3 take' deal. Yes, she used to do that in the 90s as well, but that was only on days when she was feeling off.
I don't think either are better than the other, I think in America, Barbra, Ella, and Aretha are the epitome of vocalists.
ReplyDeleteAnd outside of America, Caterina Valente and Mina Mazzini, imo Caterina and Mina are the best pop singers, ever.
Yeah he probably is, the song I was thinking about was "She's So Mean" by Matchbox 20, because it has that line "You'll never let her go" (or something like that). I can't stand that song either, so oh well lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's impossible. It is easier to bring peace to Palestine. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks that was the guy I was talking about. I too like the lyrics (and arrangement) more than his voice but what can I say I love nicely arranged words.
ReplyDeleteSorry. I would have included a video a video but I was/ am using my phone and instead of moving heaven and earth I excluded a video figuring if one wanted to look up the song it wouldn't be too hard with the likes of google, spotify, soundcloud, and etc. The name of the songs I left off out of forgetfulness, but: Bruises is by Train and Ashley Monroe, Let Her Go is by Passanger, as stated in below comments. This is William Monk by the way.
ReplyDeleteoh, hi William. Had I known it was you I would have gone with my first assumption, that whoever posted the comment was on the phone. But I thought maybe someone new, i'd better point it out because I think if it gets too vague, most will likely not take the trouble to go on a search. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's a cover band called Boyce Avenue whose singer has an extremely beautiful voice. If they do a cover of it I'll link it to you and it's 99% sure that you'll like it ^^
ReplyDeleteHaha note taken
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks, what are some songs by Boyce Avenue?
ReplyDeleteI could make you a list of at least 40 amazing Boyce Avenue's covers xD but I'll leave you here three of my favourites to listen:
ReplyDeleteDaylight (Maroon 5): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mUICctizrM
Just the way you are (Bruno Mars):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhFSgnvKqm4
Will you be there (Michael Jackson): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7Ilpnhr0kM
I don't know where to post this- in this conversation- so i'll put it here. Here is carol king explaining what happened at the Divas concert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrzndYxP7K0
ReplyDeleteWhat the ...LOl. This needs further investigating!
ReplyDeleteIn pop I like Marina, Adele, Florence, Anouk and Kelly Clarkson.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, they sing live.
And yes, I am really selective and one of my criteria is the ability and choice to sing live.
When I hear of a singer I don't know who people say is great, first thing I do in my research is go to youtube and look for live videos.
But indeed, because of that I mainly listen to Americana genre.:-)
Now, try to find the video with Mariah explaining what happened that night. It's on youtube too.
ReplyDeleteHow's about you post the link
ReplyDeleteno as in the "of legends" kind.
ReplyDeleteOuch. If she and Utada haven't been in close contact recently, that's doubly worse.
ReplyDeleteGuess who in her 33rd year in the business was the highest paid celebrity?

ReplyDeleteThoughts?
I have exactly the same thought about it as I had when DD posted this one a little before you did. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHmm I was sure I was the first one :P
ReplyDeleteOh well. I think it's the best she has released since- Under my skin
She still loves the simple, childish lyrics. But I really prefere this rockwibe over her popsuger songs like- Smile and what the hell.
*much applause for your musical choices*
ReplyDeleteThanks EthanA. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy friends keep raving about this! I am not so sold though, it sounds like too much of an auditory assault and the repetitive lyrics don't help, however there is something catchy about it...hmmmm

ReplyDeleteNorways pop princess, Tone Damli latest single:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=HX-noK3bvwQ
The song is a little boring until the two minute mark. After that the song explodes into a beaty of harmonies, instruments and some pretty decent belting. I really love the heartbeat drums in the background. Reminds me of leona lewis- keep bleeding
I would say it's worth four minutes of your life :)

ReplyDeleteEven though Obama is too far left of field as a president, I respect him and will put my gripes to the side with this speech he made. My only issue is that, scrolling through the comments, I see that many people say he will never live up to King. It is quite evident that those idiots didn't listen to this speech at all! Obama is not trying to be a new MLK, but simply a current day interpreter of his message. The simple matter is that we have come far over the past 50 years since King's speech but still have a long way to go. People blind enough to see that need to take a serious seat and get over themselves. I mean, this is one of the pressing matters of our nation and for these ignorant commentators to say such things as what they did is a bit stupid. My professor is going to have a field day with this....
Too far left field? You got to be kidding me.
ReplyDeleteAnd how that immoral assassin and warmonger would dare to even talk about King's message is beyond me.
I'd down vote that video down a million times if I could.
aha, in that case I will have to retract my words. :-)
ReplyDeleteI should have said that Obama is trying to fulfill everyone's promises by catering to too many groups and not really having a solid direction rather than saying he is too far left of field. Lol my fault for poor wording. I just don't understand some of the issues many people have with Obama. I mean the economy was in its worst state since the great depression when Obama went into office (not to say it was in as severe a state as the great depression). People looked at him as if he was the answer to everything when he got in office. I mean, he only fulfilled half of his campaign promises and the fact that our government is currently divided doesn't help much to the situation. I hate the blame games but when it comes to politics certain politicians need to let go of their personal gripes before they get in charge of a municipality or even greater. And many people blaming Obama for the current issues need to first look at all the people in congress. I mean Obama only has limited authority over the nation. People in the comment section of YouTube can be utterly ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree people in youtube comment sections can be utterly ridiculous. I also think it is an unfortunate thing most critics of Obama are Reps with little as excuse for a brain.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is true those folks will blame him for stuff he indeed can do nothing about.
Unfortunately them being Reps....they don't give a hoot about the stuff he can and should be blamed for. A lot of which happens to be policies Reps are actually all for and their (previous) merry band of criminals in the White House- Bush and co - instigated. Though Obama stepped them up a fair notch.
The thing that slays me is the fact that seeing as he did perpetuate most of those criminals' policies and then some, Reps should be deliriously happy.
They will never get such a Republican "Dem" in the White House again. One so completely in the pockets of the 1%.
But ya know, seeing as they have little for brain....they think they should hate him.
