[Music Video] Sunny MKS Video For "Flatline" Gives This Viewer The Chills

The Sugababes MKS video for Flatline has arrived, marking the first time the ladies have been seen on celluloid together since 2001's Soul Sound video. Unfortunately, whereas the record itself was worth the wait, the uninspired video I could have done without.

The biggest problem I have with the video is the lack of ANY chemistry between the members. The video does its best to convince us that all is well- because nothing says "best friends" like being crammed onto a bike with them- but I'm not buying it! Even the sunny climes of the video did little to raise the frosty feel.

I take no glee in being left feeling cold after watching this visuals to Flatline. Depressingly it makes it hard for me to believe that this regroup is anything more than a one album thing that they hope to use to relaunch their own individual solo careers once over. I'll hold off on ordering the MKS headstone until I see the interviews and live performances that come with promoting new material, though. Watching those should make it easier to gauge if this icy video was the result of a bad day and the exposed setting, or if it was actually documenting the cracks already forming between the women.

(Rereading this has made me think I might just have read a little too much into this video.....lol)

  4. I was expecting the girls to be in some warrior get up on horses flying down a smoky hill with gun fire flying around. I also wanted some close ups. But this video was disappointing even Mutya looks uncomfortable. I don't think its the chemistry but I think it was the director. It looked like they used an instagram filter to shoot this but I'm just disappointed because the video doesn't represent.........http://24.media.tumblr.com/d49df62535d78c4d745fb67b4a66a356/tumblr_mrr5oqTK0x1rhf7w8o5_250.gif

  5. I really didn't get that cold vibe you're speaking of. The only one that appears to be cold and distant in interviews is mutya. The girls definitely have chemistry musically, as well as performing live.

  6. Hey! I take offense at that. Lana is not "hipster" -chic. She is retro-chic. ;-)

  7. I mean that as a compliment for her :P. And she's both.

  8. LOL I know you did but no she is not. But I said that because I hate hipsters. It over ran my agreement with the intention of your post.
They steal without acknowledging or appreciating what they steal. That's why i say Lana is retro...she does acknowledge and appreciate what the cultural symbols she uses stand/stood for. :-)
