[Music Video] Cher Débuts "Woman's World" Video On Often Hateful and Misogynistic Daily Mail Website, Why?

Can someone explain to me why Queen of Camp Cher made the music video for Woman's World an exclusive on the often hateful to all minorities (and females), Daily Mail website? Could it be that the rag offered-up the raw material for the opening wig in return for the exclusive? Or even better, was Cher being knowingly ironic in choosing a site which often spreads negativity to début a song with a positive message? I have no idea, but I'd like to think it was a better reason than just exposure or cashola.

Aside from that conundrum, prepare your senses for a bevy of female beauties of all shapes, colours and ages getting down to the Paul Oakenfold and JD Walkerclub produced track. It does feel like the video has come a little late- considering the track was released on June the 18th- but it'll be great to see Cher back on music television, regardless.

Women's World is taken from Cher's twenty-sixth (!) studio album, Closer to the Truth.

Thoughts?

  1. I like it! It's fun. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's a nice little video :).

  2. Well, my Applause goes to Cher. Even though as a feminist who knows this is not at all a Woman's World, I would have preferred it if the lyric had been "This should be a Woman's World"
And she'd have dropped that "tell the truth" line.
But I am forgiving her both because I believe in my heart...had Cher ever hung on feminist sites/blogs...she would have seen the still rampant misogyny and changed the song accordingly. ;-)

But ...kudos in general to Cher for coming up with both a song and a video which will put a spring in the step of any woman who hears it, I bet. It does in mine anyway.

  3. That newspaper wig is ridiculous and not in a good way! I do like the triangular orange one, though. As for the song... it's OK. It's not revolutionary but it's likeable enough. Plus it's CHER.

  8. This music video, the paper wig...the iconic voice...it's too much...I can't deny my love for this song any more. Though it's may not be a perfect song (I personally hate the production and the lyrics are a bit too "talons out" for me), I love the message and I am so surprised to still see Cher, at the age of 67, still able to kick it with the banshees.

  10. It's a fun video, like everyone said, nothing earth-shattering, but still fun. This song is definitely on my workout playlist rotation. I'd like to imagine Cher's being ironic and genius as she can be, who knows, maybe her wig is made out of shredded copies of the Daily Mail, one can hope.
