[Music Video] Fantasia (Feat. Kelly Rowland & Missy Elliot): "Without Me"

Without Me music video still

I was not expecting such levels of seduction from Fantasia, but it looks like serial smut peddler Kelly Rowland -who co-stars in the video, alongside Missy Elliot- has been spreading her saucy gospel amongst her peers.

I'm only joking! Despite the dark and seedy vibe of both the music and the visuals, the reality is, Without Me is actually a feisty break-up track. Co-written by the singer, the song speaks of an ungrateful and lying ex who, if one reads between the lines, might have been gay ("Boy, I know the real you (ga, ga, yay, ga)"). Well, he better have been because being gay should never be used as a slur, Franny!

I'm actually surprised at how much I like Without Me. This and Lose to Win might just have swayed me into picking up her latest album, Side Effects of You. Now if only Kelly and Franny could have a word with Michelle Williams, we might be able to get Destiny's Child mark 2 up and running.

Thoughts?

  1. I actually like this song. It's funny, I heard it the other day for the first time on the radio with my sister and we could not figure out who was singing it!! We were like is this Fantasia, Kelly Rowland, or Michelle Williams??? For some reason it never occurred to me that it could be both haha.

  2. i like it, the beat is unusual and eery which i like but what gets me is the styling....ERMAHGERD FLAWLESS !. the colours work well and the use of jeremy scott on fantaisa and versace on missy is seamless everything from the framework Adidas jacket to missy's mullet :). the director and stylist have had a shared vision and it shows, im dying its so fierce.

  4. Who is Franny?
Her nickname is Fanny.. Franny doesn't even make sense.

  5. I've always called her Franny. Yep, doesn't make any sense. Maybe it's to do with Fanny being slang for lady bits here in the UK, so i'd rather not use it...lol

  6. The video was gorgeously done! I was trying to figure out if that Adidas top was the same one Britney wore in her remix of Scream And Shout. I gave it all of 5 seconds of thought. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEKOWKcUxdU

  7. PLAY IT! PLAY IT TILL YOU LOVE IT!!! Well unless there's a legit reason for not liking it. Should I not be liking it? Was it filmed using child labour? Do fill me in!

  9. It has this same vibe that "Beez in a Trap" by Nicki minaj had and my first impression of that song was that it sucked...then I played it again because big booty Judy was in it then next thing I knew I was rapping"Bitches aint shit and they aint seen nothing. A hundred motherf***** can't tell me nothing. I beez in the trap, beez, beez in the trap..." It just doesn't feel right to enjoy a song that I don't like (didn't catch me on first impression). lol

  10. Does kinda sound like "Beez in the Trap" now that you mention it, but I HATE that song, and I like this one.

  11. is it bad that I like that song? It's not like I think it's going to change the world or anything, but I'm a sucker for these dirty sounding tracks- Rihanna's Pour It up is another one I love. http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_li8q64DMYS1qfxj66.gif

  12. It's not bad at all. Pour it up was my idol when it first came out. I just feel strange about this Fantasia song...lol The MV was great but the song itself gave me mixed feelings...it sounds nice but 'dem lyrics though...lol

  14. It has a nice beat. They sure leave no doubt as to it's title now do they? Lyrically it is not exactly high brow. LOL
I think it's an okay background ditty.

  19. Have you seen the clothing for their world tour? I was like wow.... And what about CL "The Baddest Female"? And it is that way, he designed clothes that complement them all so well.

  20. i kinda like it

still dont know if shes using gay as a slur because if she is then that would be a big problem

but the vocals and beat are on point

even though i kinda feel kellys voice is stronger than fantasias here

and i kinda feel deceived cuz fantasia was never like this - i understand artists grow but i just feel shes falling for the trap where artists use sex to sell a song - and sorry to say but fantasia isnt exactly sexy or attractive (just my opinion nobody crucify me)

but the songs good and wish fanny the best
