JLo is one consistent performer. You know that whenever she hits the stage she's going to give it a 100% and do her darnedest to entertain the crowd. And, unsurprisingly, that's just what she did when she returned to American Idol to showcase new single Live It Up, with your best friend (and featured artist), Pitbull. Jenny from the Block gave us beauty, personality, choreography, lasers and LIVE vocals! It's just a shame the song was pants, because everything else was on point.
The shady queen that is Mimi clearly wasn't as impressed as her fellow judges (or me) with what she saw; choosing to remain seated while they took to their feet at the song's end. One obviously hasn't forgiven Ms.Lopez (and Sony) for supposedly tanking the Glitter soundtrack. Get over it girl, Loverboy is awesome with the Candy sample! In fact, I think I'll get on my bandanna top and give it a spin now!
Thoughts?
I like her... but I shall also remain seated for obvious reasons to myself... Period.
ReplyDeleteGreat big kudos to Lopez indeed, for singing live. Good bit of entertainment for sure.
ReplyDeleteNot standing ovation stuff but good, solid show.
Standing ovation performance for me would either have to be great vocals or if it's a big show kind of performance...more originality a la Pink.
Classic Mariah xD
ReplyDeleteI think she showed up Mariah. Mariah did good, but JLo put on a show with On the Floor Part 3... I mean 'Live it Up.' But I think she lipped a pre-recorded vocal, even Beyonce couldn't have sounded that good with that type of dance routine, and JLo is hardly much of a vocalist.
ReplyDeleteBut Mariah did stand, she just didn't stand at first cuz she was taking those things that fell on her
ReplyDeleteBeyoncé almost never sings while dancing... Most of the time she is doing choreography she just let the backtrack playing with the microphone way from ther mouth without even pretending she is singing...
ReplyDeleteFair enough on Beyonce's part. But that doesn't take away from the fact that JLo couldn't have sounded that clean doing that kind of routine.
ReplyDeleteThe performance was Ok, but for J-Lo that is one of the best dancers on the industry, the choreography felt a little dull... She can do far better
ReplyDeleteJ-Lo's routine was far from being the hardest she can do... Actually, it wasn't hard to any professional dancer... Singing while dancing on her case (supported by heavy backtrack) wasn't anything near impossible. Actually, I have saw people sounding better while performing harder moves.
ReplyDeleteyou can hear her voice, she is singing with a backing track but she is also singing with the track her self and i can hear her voice. i can also hear some autotuning in it as well and to be fair she is not the singer beyonce is. beyonce has a massive voice and has the control to do wonderful things even while dancing. but jlo has a soft voice, it isnt built for belting.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for auto-tune, we would have never heard Jennifer Lopez sing. Its too bad though, I like her Latin-ish timber. Had she grown up as a singer instead of a dancer, I think she could have been excellent. Woulda coulda shoulda
ReplyDeletejlo is a great performer but the songs sucks like no other
ReplyDeleteI love all of that soundtrack. So underrated.
ReplyDeleteOh my bad! Do you have a video of this?
ReplyDeleteYes, she did. But I wish she didn't. The performance is TERRIBLE. J-Lo and her dog Pitt Bull were lipsycing too.
ReplyDeleteNot actually cuz the only available video is the one from the american idol channel, and they cut it, but in the original broadcast we could see her getting up and clapping with the otherx
ReplyDeleteSince when your singing voice is the same as your talking voice, she just shouted go, jezzz, why so much hate on her?
ReplyDeletePS: I don't hate Mariah, i'm a Jlover and there's a big difference
PLAYBACK. EVEN Pitt Bull.
ReplyDeleteThe most funny is Mariah cleaning up the table. Well! She used to be a waitress in the past. LOL! She stands up, but doesn't clap. I can't blame her; the performance and the playback was terrible.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL84lhvNMv8
the backing track is way louder than her live voice
ReplyDeleteAlleluiah! Pure playback, and it happened on Billboard Music Award too.
ReplyDeletehahahahaha J-HOE is lipsyncing really hard here, but people ALWAYS love to hate mariah, hahhahahahaha Pay attention at 2:01 when J-HOE says "Go!" - Her voice sounds really different from the playback track. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeletehaahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahaha
