[Free Music] Marina and the Diamonds and Charli XCX - "Just Deserts"

Do you like Marina and The Diamonds? Do you like Charli XCX ? Well, if you answered yes to both those questions, then today really is a great day for you (maybe even the greatest day of your life), as the pair have combined their powers to create new song, Just Deserts!

It's also a good day for those of you who answered yes to either one of those questions, because this is a dark and sassy little team-up from the alt-pop Divas. It'll be especially resonate for those of you who've just gone through a not so acrimonious breakup. Oh, and if that does apply to you, then let me be the first to say: Screw him/her/it! You're awesome and can do better! Let's hug.

And finally, if you don't particularly like either, get over it, because it's being offered as a free download! WHOOPIE! So force yourself to get into it, and download it for FREE, here!

#FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  1. Hated it. Then I loved it. I have a love-hate relationship with Marina. I hate her so much for making me love her stuff (and her herself so much!)

  2. I started off like...Meh* but as I listened more and more I began to actually like it. Not enough really to download it but I give her props for making a really unique sound in the music scene.

  3. Love it! As you already know. Didn't know about the free download though!

  4. I like Charlie xcx , I love marina but I can't get into this song . I want to oh so baldy but maybe it isn't to be , side note: I'd like a comparison of Charlie's and marina's voices as they seem similar .

  5. Loved it. Loved the music, loved the lyrics, loved their singing. Just...loved it..

  6. Absolutely excellent, but then I would come to expect no less of Marina ;)

  7. This is one of those sad, unfortunate events where I have to agree with Opie.
    This song is amazing.

  8. Arthur, if you cannot live up to that agreement then don't say you will. But if you do agree...It means you also don't address eachother vicariously nor do you go and mention eachother in other comments. Especially not in an attempt to get a little dig in.
    Please desist.

There's a reason I picked Marina for the dinner party that never was ;)

I'm always up for new Marina tracks, this song and E.V.O.L have been real treats :)

  11. Lol let's call it the dinnerparty we hope will one day be. ( hell, worst case we could try to sell it as a tv show. That could still be awesome. Put some camera's out of sight. No crew or direction. Just put those women together and serve them some great food and drinks. I'd totally watch whatever conversation ensued. And with that group..conversation WOULD ensue)
Tbh I forgot you picked Marina but great pick indeed! :-)

  20. DD, for some reason I feel like you posted that song imagining Opie and I singing the parts. xD If so, I call the Mariah part.

I love it when I'm doing Just Dance on the Wii and the Marina and Diamonds song comes on!!!!

  22. It's a great song!! I became a fan of her because of her cd with Robert Plant. That's GOLD!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Me too! Had seen her come by at awards shows but other than noting she sang live and could sing, only other thing I remember of those days is wondering how well she could truly play that fiddle she was always holding.
Then I heard Raising Sand. Totally obsessed with that album for at least a year! Now that's music you can hear often and discover so many bits of brilliance with every listen.
And that indeed lead me into the music of Alison. :-)
And found out...she can play that fiddle really well in the process.
Two highways is from the same named album which is one of my favorite albums. Another big favorite is So Long, So Wrong.
    Which are yours?

  24. Mine has to be Starring Role/Lies. The acoustic was just... *melts into slimy gooey butter*
Her voice, especially with these two renditions of the songs brings heaven to my ears.

  25. What led me to Alisson first was Robert Plant and my obsession with Led Zeppelin (I really love them xD ), but she has this beautiful soprano voice and an outstanding band that makes impossible not falling in love with her music.
The thing is, nowadays music is so comercional that when you find something that isn't one dimensional you have to ''grab'' it and don't let go!!!

From Raising Sand my favorites are 'please read the letter' and 'sister rosetta come before us'. I like 'simple love' and 'paper airplane' but I'm still going through her work.

  26. *commercial* sorry my English is the worst!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Clearly not as this ... since supposedly agreeing to ignore eachother now had three digs at me in his comments at others.
Soon I'm going to let fly if he does not desist

  28. To be honest sometimes, on these you need help of seo '" search engine optimizing to enhance your main resources. However, it should be noted that in order for effective you need issue news memories on a consistent basis.

  29. Haha. I went first into Krauss and then into Led Zep. Who were awesome indeed. As is Plant. I've been putting his name forward in the request thread for male vocal profiles.

My favorites on Raising Sand are also ''Sister Rosetta'' and Nothin'.
Did you ever see the Cross Roads special? Plant covers an Akus song there which really shows what a great singer he is. :-)

I'm a little suspicious because Led Zeppelin is my favorite band and happy he tried different sounds. I went to see him solo last year for the first time and was amazing.

  32. Awesome! Yet another version of Black Dog and again it's a great one. Even if it is totally different than both the Led Zep and the RS tour versions.
And of course he is again backed by a stellar band. Darrell Scot and Patty Griffin are solo amongst the best singer/songwriters around.

Thatt Celebration concert was also amazing. The DVD is on my birthday wishlist. :-)

  33. Okay, Arthur, I think you and opie shouldn't speak from now on. I've read some of the comments- here and elsewhere- and don't think it's possible for civility. So please refrain from commenting on or to anything opie says. Opie will do the same. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am totally down with that if it also means laying off with the digs about me and misquoting my words. A complete ignoring of eachother will suit me anyway just fine. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Under one condition, Opie must not even acknowledge my existence. Must not reference anything I have said, must not throw shade, and must not dislike my comments. I will do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Please, there are others that also dislike and downvotes your comments.
