It's officially 4 days since this New Year's Eve performance happened in New York, but I thought that I'd post it for the Taylor Swift fans lurking about the site! Well that, and to stop from breaking my resolution to post every day (it's currently 23.45!).
To anyone who isn't a fan of the Swift, or is dubious of her voice, this live medley of I Knew You Were Trouble and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together isn't going to change your opinion. In fact, it might add a little more weight to your current disposition regarding T-Swift- let's just say it's not her strongest showing.
To the fans, Enjoy! And maybe you could help others see the light by telling them what about the performance you particularly enjoyed, below in the comments. :)
I know that you always sound better in your head. Even when you have a mic and some loud speakers- but c'mon Taylor...this was like a karaoke singer trying to sing your song. Im not saying you need to be the next Whitney- but at least be able to maintain a strong and stable tone on key...
ReplyDeleteAnd everytime she goes high she tries to distract the crowd by doing something, like, for example, hair flips. Or fall to the ground. Meeeh.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to daily postings...would have thought P!nk at Graham Norton might be interesting?
ReplyDeleteNot going to bother with Taylor myself. Heard her a few months back live at the Ryman with The Civil Wars and even if she has continued the vocal lessons she does seem to be taking....I suspect these few months will not have fastly improved her.And a vast improvement is what it will take before I will be able to actually enjoy her vocals.:-(
If it weren't by de backup singers she wouldn't be able to sing the chours. To me she sounds like she's trying to force her voice while singing with her throat shut.
ReplyDeleteThats my post for today sorted! Ta very much
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Seems quite the task you set yourself there
ReplyDeletethat was horrible and she doesnt have the "i was dancing while singing" excuse for her poor vocals - shes a great studio artist no doubt, but some people will just have to accept shes not that great live
ReplyDeleteShe has been having lessons for years with Brett Manning, as has Hayley Williams of Paramore. I just don't get why Swift cannot seem to deliver the goods live, as Brian said even the most simple of melodies kept in tune with some kind of substantial level of pitch is an issue...I keep thinking she will improve with age but maybe thats just wishful thinking, ah there is always the other (far superior) diva's eh!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan and i am so sad, cuz she is improving so much, but when it comes to tv shows she doesn't deliver good performances, at least not in this one, but i love this > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk_fNeHfg6E
ReplyDeleteI feel like this "new direction" that she's taking with her new album is great for the charts, sales as well as more commercially friendly however it isn't so great for her voice (nor is she accustomed to it). This album is definitely less country (if you can even call her that) compared to what she has done before. Whether it's an experiment or her evolution as an artist remains to be seen in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the reason to be the obvious Stuey, she simpy can't sing. And if one can't sing...no amount of lessons will do much but bring small improvement.
ReplyDeleteContrary to popular ( American) catchphrases...you can NOT be anything you want if you just try hard enough.
Yep, you indeed cannot polish a turd!
ReplyDeleteLOL an apt expression but I don't dislike Taylor and therefor tried a more diplomatic way of putting it. For once.
ReplyDeleteStill that WAS the sentiment indeed.
Lol I couldn't help myself, the opportunity was there so I took it ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy to provide ;-)
