The notable absence of a post on Ke$ha's comeback single Die Young should speak for itself. It's not that I hated it, it was just that it sounded all kinds of generic, without any one thing to reel me. Hence it quickly dropping off my radar. However, her first live performance of the song on the Australian X-Factor has made me sit up (slightly) and take notice again.
Admittedly, Die Young isn't a hard song to sing, but that doesn't mean it is impossible to mess it up: so I have to commend Ke$ha for delivering vocals that were akin to those laid down in the studio. Not only did she bring the vocals though, she also showed us how she's developed her stage presence: working choregoraphy like I've never seen from her.
Now all I need is a stronger follow-up to Die Young and I'll quit bathing, cover myself in glitter, and get back on that Ke$ha bandwagon like it's 2010!
Check out her performance of Die Young, below.
This is probably one of her best live performances. I find it odd she chose to sing in a lower key. I got my bucket, my glitter canon, and got rid of my bathtub for the return of this party animal!
ReplyDeleteI have to say... the choreography is pretty lame. Vocal-wise it's okay. Hated the song itself, *yawn*
ReplyDeleteI love this performance it made me want to be covered in glitter I'm not surprised that she got a standing ovation.
ReplyDeleteDef. getting better as a performer, so props to her.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or did she hit a whistle note at 2:25? she might actually have more vocal talent than people might think...
ReplyDeleteIt's an exclamation (Bb6). It is in the whistle register but wouldn't count as a whistle note because it was not sustained or connected to other pitches.
ReplyDeleteshe reminds me of those crazy women in New York who collect trash, only less cool
ReplyDeleteIf she ever decides to expand on that part of the range, possibly. It's not really a "note", so much as it is an exclamation. However, it is in tune, and it may show some potential.
ReplyDeletePlease, someone shoot me in the head!
ReplyDeleteThis is the worst performance of the decade! Thank God I'm listening to Michael Jackson right now. My ears are safe.
Trash! Horrible! Someone, please, kill that tramp, and bury her body next to mine, so I can hold her hand through eternity, just to make sure that she will never come back to horrify the mankind again.
Next!
Now why can't you come up with lines like that more often H.?
ReplyDelete" bury her body next to mine, so I can hold her hand through eternity,
just to make sure that she will never come back to horrify the mankind
again."
Because that is really really funny! :)
LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, she seems to have gone away and studied and worked hard on not only entertaining but bringing a better live vocal. I am not a fan of the song however, it's a tad yawnsome for me but I will definitely check out the album.
ReplyDeleteLEAVE KE$HA ALONE, MEANIES!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteWe may be the only stinky people on the site at this rate, Brian!
