Stepping out from behind the guitar, and away from a microphone stand, 11 time American Music Award winner Taylor Swift gave a convincing performance of I knew You Were Trouble.
Not only were the vocals pretty much spot on, but the fuller arrangement was something I enjoyed more than the original recording. The backing was quite heavy in places, I'm not going to deny that, and there sounded like slight tuning issues during the descending notes at 3.06, but overall it was a better performance than I expected from Taylor Swift .
Good on Taylor Swift for continuing to confound critics- and me- by actually getting involved with the production. It would have been easier, and expected, for her to let it all happen around, but she definitely got involved here. I still wouldn't pay to see her live-despite quite liking her music- but she is improving, which is always appreciated. So who knows, I may still end up at a "T-Swizzel" concert in the not so distant future. 2040, anyone?
Impressive, this could be the best live vocal I have ever heard from her! She seems to be improving!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely improving. I think she is actually taking lessons.
ReplyDeleteShe has been taking lessons for a long time, she uses the same guy as Hayley Williams (Paramore)...Brett Manning is his name! Had to think about that there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's got a pretty good following. I think it is helping her. She's also getting older and developing more control over her voice.
ReplyDeleteTotally, I am sure that Karen V got some of his cd's and followed them, but she never let us know how they were. Will need to remember and ask her next time she is here.
ReplyDeleteI have seen a few of his video online but never knew if it worked for people.
ReplyDeleteI gotta say this was pretty nice, good enough vocals, nice dance and GOOD visual appeal, impressed :)
ReplyDeleteThat has been my impression for some time as well. And for that kudos to her. She achieved a status and irate fans enough to be able to not do so and still continue her success but she chooses to work on improving her skills.
ReplyDeleteStill find her incredibly boring and unimpressive as a singer though but as an "artist"..kudos to Miss Swift!
It sounds... shouty to me lol.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should go find some q tips like opie suggested lolz
Oh? I thought you already found them and hence you hearing this performance is a bit "shouty". ;D
ReplyDeleteBut it IS one of her better ones though.
So it isn't just me :D
ReplyDeleteMope! At worst it is just you and me. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe world is about to end. Now I'm sure. Sometimes I miss the 90's, when we could find Nirvana, Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Alanis Morissette, Simply Red, and other amazing artists on the same show. Sad!
ReplyDeleteStop giving out advice that involves people sticking things in orifices, opie! Do you want me to get sued?! Lol
ReplyDeleteLOL I knew Britain is at times as silly as the US but really? I can be sued for suggesting applying Q-tips to ears? How perverted ARE you guys getting these days?
ReplyDeleteAnd to think...my sound advice for ladies to suck on P!nk went by unnoticed! KINKY!!!
