[New Music] Adele's New Bond Song, "Skyfall"

This hasn't been confirmed as the new Bond song, Skyfall, from Adele, but listening to it it's easy to hear why people are claiming it to be just that.

It clearly features vocals from Adele, has the Bond theme interwoven throughout and, if those weren't big enough clues, it has the word "Skyfall" in the chorus!!

Adele is sounding in mighty fine form on this snippet, and I can't wait to hear the vocal soar as the track builds to its inevitable climax. We'll have to wait till Friday to hear the full song, but below is a taster of what to expect!

Divas beware: Adele is returning!

  1. BBC said the premiere was this Friday on Adele's site? But this sounds like a Bond theme alright. I suspect there will be some belting towards the end. ;)

  2. It's not a bond theme without some big belting ;)

  3. Wow, sounds good. Better than I was expecting.

  4. Indeed! Hence my suspicion there will be a belting climax. Even if it's not on this bit. :)

  5. It sounds just like other 007's theme. Nothing original. Madonna and Alicia did a better job. They did something outta the picture.

  6. And neither did very well.
It's a theme! It's supposed to stay within a certain frame work or it is no longer a theme but simple a title song.

  7. Couldn't agree with Opie more. Alicia and Madonna were terrible Bond theme singers. Adele's reminding me of Shirley Bassey (not just in terms of tone) and it really does set an actual mood for the movie. Bond theme songs are meant to be just that; Bond theme songs.

  8. Shirley is the queen of the bond theme and both of hers are in my list of fav's, along with Goldeneye by our Tina, that song is ace!

  9. I think Adele is an obvious choice for this sonic bond outing and I have no doubt the finished product will be that of a great standard! That is all!

  10. Definitely! Nobody did it better than Shirley. Pun intended.
Carly did a fine job as well though. :)

  14. Well after hearing the full version I'd say it was a nice song, I expected a bit more big voiced vocals at the end but it wasn't bad at all :)

  15. Little disappointed in the lack of big belting at the end of the full version, but there is a one held belt run/riff up at the end, with a nice quick flip to her head register - a little bit of opposite-Whitney (Whitney used to love the head register into belts).
It's a beautiful song though, definitely. And I think it's nice to hear an Adele song where the chorus isn't just big belt, big belt, big belt. Can finally give that gorgeous voice of hers a bit of a rest haha, considering all the performances she will no doubt have to sing of this.

  17. Yes, at the first listen , seeing as I expected a belted climax, I was also a bit disappointed.
But after another listen, I really like how she didn't go the expected way and built to a different climax, more layered. I would say that I don't quite agree with the mixing. Personally I wouldn't have opted for the orchestra practically drowning out the vocals on the chorus. ;)
All in all I think it is an excellent song.
