Reader Spotlight: Karen Vinter

Today is quite a momentous day for us here at Divadevotee. For today is the day that we shine a little bit of love and light on one of our most loyal supporters, Ms Karen Vinter!

Karen has been one of a group of people- you know who your are- who have kept this blog going with their participation, support and kind words.

Over the course of our many exchanges it transpired that Karen was in fact a singer, and knowing this I couldn't help but push for a taster! It took some time, but eventually she was kind enough to send me audio of some of the songs she had covered. Songs which you too can now hear below.

My response on listening? I was genuinely surprised by what I heard and thanked God they were great, because I was dreading having to lie if they had been terrible!

All I can say is, I think I might just have some of the most talented readers on the net!

  1. I wouldn't lie but pffff I am also happy to say that was some damn fine singing Karen! Kudos to you.
Not fond of the choice of songs though. I'd say try to find original material (don't know if you write yourself but if you don't, maybe find an aspiring and of course talented song writer) or more obscure tunes. It leaves you less open to being compared or "labelled" in a particular genre.

  3. Thanks guys! That's really sweet of you. More to come soon.

I agree Opie - I do write and when I get some more cash together I will be doing some original material hopefully. I recorded these demos to help me get more studio experience (recording backing vocals etc) and sometimes producers prefer to hear you doing a song they know - I guess it helps them to judge your voice better. x

  4. Love the GIF DD! Ha! I'm very honoured to be the first reader featured on your site...hopefully some more singing readers will be featured on here too soon? Please never lie to me - I need the feedback to improve! xx

  5. Yes, I can see the logic in that. Hope you will meet one soon who recognizes talent and arranges the studio time for you to do some of your own material. :)

  11. Annoying isn't it Stuey, how unclear this system is on whether a comment got posted? I have taken to simply hit that post it button once and then opening a second screen to see if it worked. But I guess that would be hard to do if you are on a phone for instance?

  12. Totally! Its my laptop that's not letting me post properly, just my phone! Rather annoying! Hope you are well lovey!

  13. Posting comments is pretty straightforward for me. Even more so than the other format. I'm using Google Chrome.

  20. I'm well but I missed you for a few days. Was afraid you had succumbed during your rigorous work out and your arms had fallen off. ;)

  22. Oh and ps. Are you thinking of doing a wee mixtape/EP??? I would be sure to download it (and pay too)...you should defo consider it! Please however do not go down the X-Factor route, you are far too classy for that, I might have to biatch slap you if you did hehehe

  23. "a Greek God"? Starving you mean? Why worry. Bet you already have the accent of a Scottish god. And that's worth a lot. Sean's ( Connery) body may be long gone but you hear the dude and he's still damn sexy. And don't even get me started on women with Scottish accents ;)
