Oh dear, looks like Jessie J is being sued for copyright infringement. The song in question is her second UK number one hit-and no favourite of mine- 2011's Domino.
The song sure did remind me a lot of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) when it was released, but as it was produced and written by the same people- notably Dr. Luke- it couldn't really be deemed plagiarism or infringment. More sloppy seconds, if you will.
However, things have heated up now, with American singer Will Loomis, claiming that the hit single borrows heavily from the song Bright Red Chords he released in 2009 with group Loomis and the Lusts. As a result of the claimed infringement Loomis is seeking at least $150,000 (£96,000) in damages.
Is this a case of a relatively unknown courting publicity by attacking a bigger fish, or do you think Mr Loomis is right to bring his concerns to trial? Take a listen, vote, and let me know what you think in the comment section below.
