Rihanna Performs "Where Have You Been" Live on American Idol Finale.

Rihanna American idol 2012 finale

Yep, the Rihanna embargo has been lifted, because honestly I just don't care enough to keep it going. With that out the way, take a look at her performance of new single Where Have You Been on the American Idol season 11 Final.

There has certainly been growth in the star in regards to her stage presence, and her involvement with the choreography, and that has to be given credit. Also, unlike other people in the industry, Rihanna, always seems to sing live, admittedly over quite a filled out backing track. Whether you appreciate that "experience" or not is another thing. However, I like to see people giving it a good go and RiRi certainly is getting more accomplished as a live vocalist.

I have to confess though the thing that really had me mesmerised was the light show! I'm like a moth to the flame when it comes to flashing and twinkling lights, and there was plenty of that in this production. Some, more shady people, may say so many photons were used to distract from the performance, but I would say they added to the whole shebang, rather than pulled focus from any one element.

Definitely a step up from the Rihanna I saw last year on the Loud tour.

  3. I say never mind what this annoying, musically uninteresting woman did the more worthy female musical factoid is...;)

Dolly Parton's autobiographical 1971 hit, "Coat of Many Colors"
is one of 25 recordings added to the Library of Congress' National
Recording Registry for 2011, bringing the Registry's total number of
    recordings to 350.

  4. Dolly Parton is a song writing machine! I need to do a profile on her! Have you heard her last album, "Better Day"? I've been meaning to get it but keep forgetting.

  5. Was a freebie, but I  had a lot of fun. :D

  6.  Yes, she is. And some great tunes at that! I posted this comment and then realized it would be more appropriate under her profile. I was amazed there was none yet.
Would love to see that one.
Though my heart, of course, is still set mostly on an Alison Krauss profile ( excuse the shameless reminder, ;D)
And btw, if I can aid you with links or songs please let me know. I am not sure what your process is but if I can help I will do so gladly of course.

I did hear that album and quite liked it. Couple of good tunes on there. Though my favorite Dolly tune is The Seeker. Love the vocal arrangment on that one. Plus it is such a happy tune. Do you know it?

  7. brilliant production but i still dont like her

  8. She can't sing or dance. That is all.

    ReplyDelete
  9. She's come a long way and she still has a LONG way to go. She's such a mediocre performer and so basic. She can't dance and she should stop trying. That p*ssy patting/  vogue around her box choreo... Really?!?

  10. Sorry but I really do not see the fascination with this woman, she is an 'average' singer with a voice that is like wasps in your ears!

Dont get me wrong she is not all bad, Russian Roulette is by far her best single, but thats about it, thats a matter of taste however!

Her success is what you call corporate marketing on a massive level!

  11. I see that some people envy others... It is a pity because the "whole" world thinks differently...
There are some great singers out there and some great dancers but they lack the most important quality of all, attitude!

    ReplyDelete
  12.  Totally agree with you, but I think "Man Down" is a great single with a great video.

  13. If you think you could be very successful why dont you go and take her place, I would like to see you perform... She has attitude and is very sure of herself and still in tune with her humbleness something that some singers have diverted from, because fame and money have corrupted the core of their souls. She still knows where she came from and understands her roots and helps her people. Attitude is important. When you dislike someone it’s because you think you could do better or  you envy something that person has. I would really like to see you in her position. You must think it is really easy... You seem a very nasty person, calling someone a Bitch. You like to judge and through the first stone so don’t expect not to be judge for what you say. Watch out with your tongue because it’s from the tongue that you die from... If you dont like her dont comment on her section its simple, easy and you save Myself and others that like her work, harsh feedback, we dont have to feel your negativity or read your disgusting dislike comments...

  14. LOL First off, again, you come with a non argument. A performer exist by grace of an audience. I am full well capable of being an audience member and therefor full well capable of having an opinion on a performer.
( And since I already declared I would not pay to see this individual, I'd say it's pretty clear that I would never choose to be or be like said individual either, whether I could or not doesn't even come into play)

Good for you if you see such things in Rhianna. I see very different attributes..

You obviously know practically nothing of human psychology if you think those are the only two reasons for disliking somebody.

And if someone behaves befitting the definition of the word bitch, that's what I call them. She herself sure seems to have no problem calling all kinds of people that and worse. How come you don't like my "attitude" if you consider it all that important and admirable?

Not only do I expect to be judged for my words, I welcome and enjoy people doing so.

What's with the biblical inspired treats? Should that impress me somehow? Are you under the impression you hold godlike powers? Or are you merely wishing things upon me because you don't believe in human rights? Or are you simply trying to scare me into silence in the good old religious tradition?

You hit the nail on the head right at the end though. You indeed don't have to read my comments. I however have the right to reply to comments posted in open blogs. If you don't like to read negative responses I suggest you either don't post in such a forum OR when you do, don't read the responses. Ya know...just to be on the safe side. ;)

And finally...it seems to have escaped your memory that your comment which I responded to WAS in fact a nasty stab at people expressing their dislike of somebody NOT you.

  16.  I agree. I think I just proven that I can be better than Rhianna....at being a bitch Since I can do it without foul language etc. Which means by his rules I CAN bitch about her as much as I want. ;D

    ReplyDelete
  17.  LOL I enjoyed that. I was trying real hard to stay sort of civil (in language anyway) but especially those first two lines of your comment pretty much covered what I was thinking.

  18.  Not owning such a phone myself I am wondering, is it because you are on a phone that you don't use the edit function?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oooh - much better vocals from Rihanna than in previous years! I wonder if this song suits her range better? I love the staging too (apart from this peculiar choreography which is popular at the moment). But is she EVER gonna take a break? It feels like she's been releasing material constantly for the last two years! LA Reid must be a hard taskmaster! I felt that she was too breathy at the end but that's understandable.

    ReplyDelete
  20. BTW - did you see Chaka Khan on American Idol too? Think it might have been the same show/weekend. x

    ReplyDelete
  21.  Are you saying that because Rihanna once again gave a shitty performance and we noticed it, we're jealous? HAHAHA.

    ReplyDelete
  22.  Go stan somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh sweetie, in that case go demand your money back. And please let me know where you major in English. Don't want to make the same mistake you are making when I take your advise and study English more.
Because that one sentence alone was quite appalling. "combination of my combination of"? "IN a much higher level thEn"?
And your use of punctuation marks or lack there of....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love you, DD :)

    ReplyDelete
  25.  And another strong "argument" from you. How befitting your "defense" of Rhianna is. You sure are worthy of her and her behavior. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ohhh you are so sweet....

    ReplyDelete
  27. Aren't I though! So nice to see you finally are up to admitting the truth about her. A person quite delusional about her own abilities, who is proud of being a bitch but a real hypocrite when she gets same in return.:)

    ReplyDelete
  28. An English major who can't put their "eloquent" words in any form of correct sentence structure, and with arguments and phrasing that simply doesn't flow with recognizable coherence? Oscar Wilde is writhing in his grave. Go back to high school.

    ReplyDelete
  29. hahha.. thx for clearing all that nonsence up..lol..i didn't understand all that crap he was chatting

    ReplyDelete
  30.  Well, if "attitude"is the most important quality, then you should not complain over the fruits of "attitude".
But I am afraid personally I think the most important quality for a singer is the ability to SING!.

As for that "envy"argument...frankly,I think that belongs on youtube. It's a non argument most frequently used by those who have absolutely nothing else.
I don't know about anybody else but my intense dislike for Rhianna comes exactly from hating that "attitude", praying I will never be such a bitch myself and the fact that it is combined with no redeeming talent whatsoever.
All in all, I do not "envy" talentless nasty characters.

  31.  I found it appropriate in this situation lol.

  32. Ever seen written***

  33. Yeh true Hannah! She has actually released some great songs, I own 'Umbrella' and 'Take a Bow' both delivered exceptionally, but live it always kills me. There is pretty visuals here and her choreo for the actual video is pretty good and she always goes all out (Disturbia for example). So as an artist she does deserve some praise!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't know she was performing, she is one of the few old school disco/pop/electro diva's left! *goes Youtube*

    ReplyDelete
  35. By the way I major in English, and if you don't understand the combination of my combination of eloquent  words  with metaphorical meaning behind just shows I am in a  much higer level then you and you simply dont get the message... So study more...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have no idea how this all started, but am too tired to follow the breadcrumbs back to the source.lol. I have however edited your comment to include the amendments you added :).

    ReplyDelete
  37. DEAD at these comments! No one likes a pedant, especially one who is incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence. Let me guess, you had your thesaurus in hand while writing your comments?  For your sake I hope you're a troll.

  38. omg dying funniest comment ever

  39. That was the biggest load of shit I've ever seen written. It feels like you've swallowed a thesaurus, shat it out and used the tattered, faeces-covered remains to try and construct any form of sense from your poor and utterly false points of argument. FYI, I'm a medical student and have studied psychology and psychiatry at high-end tertiary level. Don't sprout complete inaccuracies relating to societal mentalities and behavioral aspects when you haven't a clue what you are talking about. Rihanna has a nasal, dull, weak voice, and her songs are constructed by constant and incessant repetition. Those are facts. Sure, it suits club music and dance charts, hence why it is successful - society is based around that now, so it is successful. But being sellable and being talented are two very, very different things. Go back to whatever foolish, deluded and moronic hole you came from.

  40. I see due to your sub natures you perceive media and newspapers stories in veil.
Your dislike for her has bemused truth, facts and reality with people who want her burned and see her as a threat due to her provocative views (These people are normally called close minded people, the parasites of society). Your ego has penetrated your inner conscience so deep, that you ram people down without knowing an Individuals background. Your abhorred nourished behaviors will always blind sight you for your allergic reaction to some people, so you have the need to denigrate her image just because she falls out from your "Usual" or "common" artist, and maybe the fact that she is also having more success than other artists, being one of the top 5 female artists with worldwide success, might help you dislike her more. Maybe her skin color… We never know what flows in some peoples little sick minds…
If you dislike her you are no audience of her... Clear?
You are full of yourself, and by the way your opinion doesn’t matter here, no one gives a fuck about your inflicting comment, she has already conquered the hearts of half the world already. Egocentric people like you get pushed in the mud sooner or later. And judging someone only exposes you further.
I have the same right as others to be here and I don’t like what you write about artists without proof, and you are not in her skin to judge, you are unaware of the circumstances of someone’s life. It’s always very easy to judge someone when you are the spectator of someone’s life. I think you should be banned. Because you have no facts are bases of your bull shits.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thanks for your opinion dude. Least, I gather you gave your opinion on me and my character based on you knowing all about me, as you , unlike me with Rhianna, know all about my life?

However, I was not the one suggesting you are not allowed to post here. I merely suggested some strategies to help you cope with people who dislike Rhianna in public blogs after you suggested I should leave.

As an added free bonus, might I suggest, since you clearly don't know English well enough, to steer clear of attempts to use such flowery language. Stick to what you know instead. And more in particular what you understand the meaning of.

Personally I am under no illusion regarding the meaninglessness of internet commenting. You however seem to feel my comments do carry a significant weight. Judging by your responses.

If you think I should be banned, feel free to suggest this to the person who is actually running the blog. Which FYI is ...NOT you.

Also, for future reference, there is a reply button under each comment. The idea is that if you want to reply you use it. Another friendly suggestion. Just trying to help out a struggling fellow human being.:)

ps my "proof"? Her own tweets for one thing.
