[New Music] Christina Aguilera "The Prayer" (Post Includes Live and Studio Version)

Any fears that the voice we'd been hearing during Christina Aguilera's live performances of late [here] was a reflection on the current state of her recording voice have been smashed to smithereens with the leaking of new song, The Prayer.

I don't think I have ever heard Christina Aguilera sound this good.  Not only is there a marked improvement in the control-which is out of this world- but there is also growth in her tone, timbre and the overall health of her voice. There's not a single note where Christina  strains, or pulls it and the vocal runs have been done away with as she demonstrates a more mature, and much improved, standard of vocal delivery.

Simply effortless, angelic singing from the "voice of a generation"! Our prayers have truly been answered! Needs to be heard to believed.

  1. :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I had no idea she would ever touch this song! one of my favorites! And her singing sounds so effortless! Although the ends of her runs of course still sound a bit forced. Overall MAJOR improvement though.

  2. I'm going to post again expressing my overall shock at this track. I mean that Beauty that i knew lied underneath the strong voice is finally shining. Its just...perfect. I mean the vibrato, the resonance, the ring, everything I have ever hoped for my favorite singer is there in this one song I have waited so long for. I think im gonna cry. Im tearing up. And Ive NEVER had a song make me tear up before. :')

  5. Wow. That's amazing. I know that Christina will show us all how amazing she is with perfect studio vocals. What really shocked me is how good she sang this live, last night at The Voice. Her natural tone is waaaaay more pleasent to hear and is like an angel's lullaby. I can't wait for her new album, specially if there're a couple of amazing soul/pop ballads co-written with Linda and Sia.

  6. finally
probably her best live performance in a really long time
and i love the tender side of her voice so much more than when she belts and uses too many runs

she should always sing like this - brings me back to when i loved Xtina

  7. Christina taking on a classical song, and sounding absolutely incredible and delightful to the ears! Thanks for posting this DD :)

I agree with Brian, this song does make me tear up too! I particularly enjoyed Charlotte Church & Josh Grobans version of this track (Sublime indeed). But something about this is extremely emotive and genuine.

I seriously am in shock at how healthy Christina's vocal sounds throughout, and not only that but you can tell she was singing that straight from her heart. F*****g fantastic stuff!

  10. YES YES YES, Christina sounding much improved live (thank the lord)! This is a joyous moment, truly! She is starting to restore my faith in her! Even although there was a slight strain at one part her voice was stunning! Wooooooo

  12. Liked that performance on The Voice even better. That was excellent. At least she is not another Whitney clone and has a more individual style.

  13. I agree, I was totally taken by surprise with that performance, and its a notoriously difficult song to sing too! Kudos mucho for her!

  18. Absolutely incredible! This is something I never have to second guess. I believe Christina is/has been underrated due to the Mickey Mouse Club and the constant comparison of her artistry and Brittany Spears who are artist worlds apart. Christina is in the same caliber vocally as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, & Celene Dion but critics downgrade her a tier due to her beginnings.

  19. I'm not sure if she was downgraded because of her beginnings, I think is mainly because of her desition to sing in a tessitura than isn't her, leading to some really bad performances. She felt like she needed to proof constantly that she was a real singer, by oversinging and almost screaming some notes. Now I think she's old enough to let her real gift take the lead, and show everyone why their fans call her the voice of our generation.

  20. I think taking lessons from one of the greatest vocal coach Seth Riggs has also something to do with it. :)

  21. This was really nice, I expected an awful vocal performance. I just wish she still toned down her vocals a bit more, the high notes were still strained. Head voice sounds great!
