The biggest news of last week was of course the birth of Beyonce and Jay Z's first child- a daughter- named Blue Ivy Carter. It seems like only yesterday Beyonce spectacularly revealed her pregnancy to the world during her live performance of Love On Top at the 2011 MTV Music Awards.
The speed of the pregnancy seemed in stark contrast to senior Diva Mariah Carey, whose pregnancy felt like the gestation period of an elephant last year! Blue Ivy Carter was delivered healthy, via C-Section, at Lennox Hill Hosptial, New York- just in case you wanted to send flowers. Congratulations to the Knowles/Carter family.

Rihanna, aka aunty of Blue Ivy Carter according to her congratulatory tweet to Beyonce, has been named the biggest selling digital artist ever with sales of 47.5 million singles! Amazingly, 13.9 million of those sales were accumulated in 2011 alone!

Original Sugababes members Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy were rumoured to have reformed and taken to the studio to work on new material last week. But why now? Well, what better time to plan a big comeback then when the band that hijacked the name you built up is effectively on its knees. The rumour later turned to fact, confirmed via Pop Justice, and adding to the excitement of the reformation is the news that the ladies are working with many of the producers who helped create their brilliant first album, One Touch. Lets just hope the egos are kept in check long enough for this project to see the light of day.

In sad news, I suppose, California Girl Katy Perry has split from British husband Russell Brand after the sum total of 14 months of marriage. But in potentially good news- for her music career that is- this may provide the push her latest single, The One That Got Away, needs to propel it to the top of the billboard charts. A feat that will give Ms Perry the enviable title of most successive number one singles from an album, besting Micheal Jackson's five singles from album Bad in the process.
