Just because we are a site about the female voice, it doesn't mean we don't appreciate male singers too! Below is a list of male singers and their vocal range.

  2. michael jacksons vocal range is not 3 octaves, its more than that. michael jacksons vocal coach in an interview said that his vocal range was 4 + octaves, cause as he got older he had the ability to hit low notes , without losing the high notes;)
    just saying

    ReplyDelete
  3. give us some more of male vocal ranges too :)

  4. John Legend - (E2 - G#5) 3 Octaves and 2 Notes Bariton

    ReplyDelete
  5. Actually Prince's vocal range is E2-C#7.
    Hits E2 in "Daddy Pop"

  6. Diva Devotee, you might add Super Junior members next time.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Michael Jackson's Range Was F2-Eb6, 3.833 (3 5/6) octaves
His vocal coach apparently said he could sing to B1, but I read this on answers.com so it may not be true, so I wouldn't include it.

  8. http://www.divadevotee.com/2012/01/michael-jackson-vocal-profile-range.html  I've created a profile for him which has some extra notes added

    ReplyDelete
  9. What about Steve Perry?  Shouldn't he be included in your list of males????

    ReplyDelete
  10. Justin Bieber isn't male...

    ReplyDelete
  11. most of these singers are 2-3.5 octaves and are mezzo soprano

make anyone elses profile! please! anyone but justin bieber!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think you should add Chris Taylor Brown. Hes a rock singer, the lead of the band Trapt. I think his vocals are pretty impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lambert recently hit a G#2 live ^^

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm a guy, my vocal coach sais that My vocal range is 4octaves and 3~4 notes, but when I see other singers I find it weird. Is that possible ?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Super Junior Kyuhyun's highest note is either F#5 or G5. Add him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I swear Freddie Mercury's voice is more than three octaves. Perhaps four. Five is a maybe. He has been known by his vocally obsessed fans to have access to whistle register and has a great range with power ringing throughout most of his range.

mezzo sopranos are females? duh. the counter tenor is the only voice that can be quallified as a mezzo. look at chris colfer from glee!

    ReplyDelete
  19. WHAT THE FUCK??? FREDDIE MERCURY HAS WELL OVER 4 OCTAVES SORRY GUYS BUT HE IS THE BEST MOST TALENTED SING OUT OF ALL OF THEM!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Freddie Mercury could sing F2 - F6 haha. He's a 4 octave guy. But even as written, you said F2-E6, which is 3 octaves 7 notes.

Speaking of which, it must be about time for another Male profile, and Freddie is definitely worthy! Haha

  21. How about Robert Plant's range?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEgVyby3ApE

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh snap. Those notes sound a bit...incredibly painful.

    ReplyDelete
  23. LOL No idea how you mean that Brian? Is that positive or negative and do you mean painful to him or to your ears?

    ReplyDelete
  24. so it is! I think a few more females before my next male :P

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well he'll get a revised- more accurate range- when he gets his own profile in the future .

    ReplyDelete
  26. Painful moreso to him than to me lol. I don't mind scatchy vocals they just sounded a bit like they were coming from someone who had more grit in their voice than the average singer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well yeah, It's Robert Plant. Dude has more grit than the average singer period. ;)
Again not sure if I read that correctly but..you are not familiar with Robert Plant?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know of him but I have never really sat down to listen to his work. Some of those notes on the video sounded like straight up screaming to me but I dunno...it wasnt bad. Haha I need to listen to more Led Zeppelin.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Or some of his more recent stuff maybe ;)

He doesn't have the range anymore at 60 but the grit...I think so. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Another suggestion for male vocal range...George Michael. Speaking of the great Freddie Mercury...George did a find job with this one I thought...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSKhIyQ5PpY&feature=related

    ReplyDelete
  31. I really like George's voice, I think people forget what a truly gifted and capable singer he is :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree Stuey. I think it is a result of media taking a dislike to him and it somehow becoming "uncool" to like him but he is an excellent singer imo..

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeh the media have been more than a bit unfair to him, it seemed that they were on a mission to destroy his rep for a while there. Now he is seen in better light, well for now at least...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Depends on his next single I guess. I understand a new video is soon tp be dropped with Kate Moss in it. Least, I think I saw a headline to that effect on Huffington post

    ReplyDelete
  35. What about Myles Kennedy? Amazing control and ability to sustain notes as well as a 4 octave range.

  37. Without a doubt one of the most significant and incredible vocal legends of our time!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Truly one of the most versatile and beautiful voices ever born! :D

    ReplyDelete
  39. CHRIS BROWN HAS A 3 OCTAVE RANGE!??? The boy can barely sing 2notes...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jim Gillette 6 octaves

    ReplyDelete
  41. Am an Haute Contre, I hit from F2 to E6, and just strted whistle, sometimes high notes sound higher than they are, like lambert hitting a B5 and it really sounds like a C5. Weird

    ReplyDelete
  42. It took me a while to consider this, but Chrs Brown is not a great singer at all. His dancing is fabulous, but his voice is nasal and I feel like it's edited because his "live" performances never sound live with all that dancing going on. There's only one Michael Jackson.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Um, please don't judge me this is my first time here. Lol. There is another male voice his name is Chris Colfer. He is from Glee and his vocal range is Countertenor and I don't know how far his range is but I know his highest was at least a G5 so would it be possible to make a Vocal Profile for him I know that he is not known as a singer but I just love his voice so much and I just would like to know how wide his range is. If you could do that for me, that be very grateful.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes, Colfer is Glee's resident countertenor. I believe his demonstrated range is A2 to Bb5, 3 octaves and a semitone. There is a video of it up on YT.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh I barely look at vocal ranges on YouTube but thanks this really helped.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Do you have any information on Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men's vocal ranges? I've been looking all over and can't find anything at all. Their harmonies are so amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has 6 octaves vocal range.... Crazy but Great.

  49. if you think freddie mercury has the highest male voice, you guys probably haven't heard of or listen to mihai traistariu.

    ReplyDelete
  50. people said Charice has a 5 octave voice which was far from true. As talented as the man was he didn't have more than 4 octaves he had about 3 octaves and 4 notes which is still an impressive range!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think that they want proof he actually hit those notes, not just a testimonial. Various coaches have had varying opinions on Mimi's range, from four to eight, but they went with the number of octaves they could confirm: five.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why isn't Nick Pitera on this list? He has the largest vocal range I've ever heard on a guy.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Would like to see Matt Bellamy join this list; A2 to G#5 I believe; though his live recordings go to D#6!

    ReplyDelete
  54. dumb ass dont hate

    ReplyDelete
  55. remember jeff buckley . !!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I sing A0-A#bb5 in my upper chest

    ReplyDelete
  57. A0-D#/Eb5 in my lower chest

    ReplyDelete
  58. A0-A#BB6 IN my head/ A0-A6 falsetto

    ReplyDelete
  59. What is my vocal. Range and type ? I sing A0-B4

    ReplyDelete
  60. I sing F#2-F#6 but I my lowest to highest is G#2-G7 and ima male

    ReplyDelete
  61. I am a male. I think. :/ I don't know! Lol jk but My range spans from C2-G7 which is 5 octaves and 5 notes would I be classified as a Countertenor?

    ReplyDelete
  62. On Michael Jackson's profile it says he has a 4 octave range but here it says 3 octaves and 2 notes? I remember reading somewhere his range was nearly 4 octaves but not quite.

    ReplyDelete
  63. He's one of the best vocalists.

  64. Please please please, profile Josh Groban.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm a male and my range is from E2-A#7. What is my voice classified as?

    ReplyDelete
  66. they say michael's octave range is 3.6 octaves (F2-C6) so yes nearly 4 octaves

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm a male and my range is from E2 - E5. What is my voice classified as?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I wonder where's Adam Levine and his 4 Octaves

    ReplyDelete
  69. Probably a baritone. It would be hard to pick which kind though. It depends whether you find it easier to sing at the top of your range or the bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Can you show a video or any proof of it? I'm sure that he has at least 3 octaves, but 4 seems too much to me...

    ReplyDelete
  71. So you've got a greater range than Mariah Carey? If you're going to make things up at least try a little harder.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Well in that case range is 6 octaves, and type is dickhead.

    ReplyDelete
  73. my VR is (on most days) (F1) G2-Bb5(C7)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Another Team Breezy ignoramus. Don't be mad because this clown can't sing. Same old aggravating baby voice. Get a glass a water because you're thirst and have a seat.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Actually, he only aututones which is useless and destroying the art form of R&B.

Hate on what??? Chris' lack of vocal ability

  77. Hey guys, I've been trying hard to find my voice and when I listened to John Legend's All of Me and started singing together I noticed that it relatively suits my voice - except when he belts "risking it all [..,]". If you guys who know better about voices could make him a profile I would be very thankful as it would help me lots too. Btw, Happy New Year!

    ReplyDelete
  78. This is true. He has been reported to hit an A6 during a live performance of Get Down, Make Love, and I'm pretty sure he hit an F6 in Under Pressure. I've also heard of him getting so low as an A1 but I'm not certain of this. Regardless, his voice was remarkable.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Why would males care about 7th octave notes they can reach and consider it part of their vocal ranges? It doesn't make them more of a singer

    ReplyDelete
  80. So when are more profile going to be added for males? Thinking primarily Prince and disputed Freddie Mercury?

    ReplyDelete
  81. 1 octave is eight notes, not seven, that's why it's called octave.
