Rachelle Ferrell - "With Open Arms" Live ( 25 second belt and whistle note)

Rachelle Ferrell is an amazing singer who not only has a 5 octave range, but can access the whistle register-see 3.44- has incredible stamina- watch how at 5.14 holds a note effortlessly for 25 seconds- and has amazing technique to boot.  A true vocalist in every sense of the word!

  1. Hello DD, I think there is a need to update Ms. Rachelle's vocal range into her profile. Contralto?! She's a soprano!

  2. The whole vocal range needs an overhaul. I don't think she's a soprano though, she mixes her voice very early and when its not mixed her voice is so heavy. I still think shes a contralto, or perhaps a low mezzo.

  4. Ugh sorry but totally can't share in that emotion. All of couse only my personal opinion but....Lovely voice and obvious range but the facial contortions are not only unappealling and distracting, you can also hear them. So just listening doesn't help either. And though the tone is incredibly warm, the delivery is one of calculated showing off with very little feel for the song.
I mean, if anybody declared their love in that manner to me, I wouldn't believe them for a second. But...I would be glancing around where the camera is at, they are actually addressing.

  5. Haha there is always a smile when reading Opie's comments. She certainly isn't one I would love to look at sing and I agree that they can be heard but I love it. And though I myself am a bit of a writer, I think sometimes its good to show of your voice and the lyrics don't have to be the bible. But as you said it is all opinion that we disagree not technical stuff or things that can be proven write or wrong.

  6. Indeed! Just differing tastes. There obviously is no denying her technical range and ability. I just wish she'd ''deny'' it a bit more. ;-D

  7. I know her range changes with every thing I read the biggest I saw was 6 the smallest was 4, I think five is probably true.

  8. I'm quite clueless on the range thing in general but she reminds me of Bobby mcFerrin and he has an incredibly range too I understand.

  10. Oh I don't think anybody should even compare themselves to such unusual talents. You'll end up never doing anything. ;-)
And that dude is impressive. Aside from his vocals, look up his wiki entry. Damn!
